It's not the amount of money that bugs me ($2 is nothing really, and the game is cheap as is), but this is the kind of behavoir I do not approve of in the current generation.
See, in previous generations, you wouldn't have to PAY extra for new characters*... you'd UNLOCK them by performing certain tasks or completing crazy goals. Not anymore, now that publishers think they can nickel and dime people for that (and they can... because it works...).
It just makes me sad... because I WON'T be playing as Protoman in MM9.
I'm perfectly fine with it, actually. Sort of like in Mario Kart Wii; there's no way in hell that I'll ever be good enough to unlock all that stuff in there, but I'd love to take Funky Kong and Dry Bones Bowser for a spin. Or race against them.
But that's just not going to happen by me being good enough.
