Voices are funny things. A lot of people tend not to like their own, and hate to listen to themselves.

So supposing that you could have someone else's voice. Better yet, let's make this interesting-- suppose you had to take on someone else's voice. By whatever course of action, something has happened that you can no longer speak, but doctors or whoever can make you talk again. They can't restore your own voice, because there's a lack of reference for some reason (it's hypothetical, just go with it).

Who's voice would you pick to sound like?

For me, that's a tough one. There are a lot of voice actors I've listened to, studied, and admired. Peter Cullen, Kevin Controy, Garry Chalk, David Kaye, Scott McNeil, Ian Corlett, Mark Gatha, Lorenzo Music, Don LaFontaine... a lot of great voices. Not to mention others I've seen, including wrestlers like Shawn Michaels, or Shane McMahon.

It's a tough call. But, if I had to choose one to go with on a day-to-day basis, I think I might go with Seth MacFarlane, believe it or not:

...not that I'd complain if I had to settle for any of the others.

Actually, though I wouldn't want to sound like it all the time, I wish I could invoke Patric Zimmerman (voice of Revolver Ocelot), if nothing else to unnerve the fuck out of my students.

Oooh, good one. David Hayter and Cam Clarke are good ones, too.

The late Don LaFontaine.

No doubt about it, that guy made serious bank off his voice.

Not to mention, can you imagine using that voice in mundane situations? It would be hilarious. Everything would sound so... epic.

True enough. XD

I have such mixed feelings about Seth. On one hand, he's a modern animation hero and I have a ton of respect for the man. And yes, he not only has a great voice but he can SING! And supply great voice acting. I enjoy his work.

But maaan does he ever come off as arrogant sometimes :( When I realized the text in his Burger King cartoon teaser was referring to him, I got a little disgusted.

I think it's for show, mostly. Sort of the opposite of self-deprevation. Truth be told, I've always found characters with egos to be entertaining, particularly when they receive their comeupance.

There was a special ep of Family Guy, celebrating 100 eps or something, where he was talking to people about the show (who didn't know he was the creator), and they just talk the absolute most shit about the program. It was hilarious.

I figure he's following the example set in that episode of The Simpsons with Sideshow Bob's brother, Cecil. As Krusty said, "the pie in the face gag only works when the victim has dignity!" before they nail Bob with one.

It's always more fun to watch someone on a high horse fall off, and I think that's sort of what he's trying to project, if only because he doesn't seem to take his own act of arrogance all that seriously. So it's sort of a reverse self-deprevation. At least in how I see it.
