"I shouldn't even be here today."
Oct. 11th, 2004 12:29 pmThe last thing I ever expected to see when I got home from work last night was this...

I come in with dinner, and the next thing I know, I see this cat in Red's arms and I'm all "WTF?!"
In my mind, I'm just trying to rationalize what I'm seeing. "You brought Mango home? Wait, that cat's black, it can't be Mango... what the fuck's going on here? Who is this cat?"
When I called home and Red said she said she had a surprise for me when I got home... I thought maybe it was a pack of those giant Reese's cups, or maybe she'd killed the postman and claimed our stuff. I never expected... company. Of the permanent sort.
Personally, I wouldn't have gotten a cat for the sake of getting a cat, not right now anyway... I'm still uneasy with us being able to support ourselves right now. But this one seems to have been a mercy adoption, and I can't refuse that...
...fish bait? What the hell is wrong with some people? Canada, sheesh...
So anyway, Red was considering naming it "Cassidy"(after the Preacher character) after he playfully nipped at her neck. Somehow, that still didn't seem to fit quite right to me. So we considered that, Tango, Ravage(he is black, after all), and what I thought was pretty fitting... "Dante."
Yeah, that one's sort of a double-tribute, I'll let you guess from where by reading the Subject of my and Red's LJ posts on the topic.
At least this is a friendly cat, purrs a lot, and the picture seems to show his preferred spot to sack out, at least when one of us is on this computer. Red says that she was told the cat is 8 weeks young, which we're suspect of, as Mango is about that age, and doesn't seem quite as developed physically or mentally.
Oh, and Dante seems to love his toy mouse. Practically will ignore everything else for it.
So, yeah. That's what I came home to after I got off of work.
