Wow, the dangers of going through an old folder. In this case, my folder full of Mega Man pics. Now, I've seen something I don't think I can ever UNsee.

First, know that I am a packrat, especially where images are concerned. As such, I save tons of stuff. So when I came across some unfamiliar Rockman (Mega Man's name in Japan, for the uninitiated) manga scans at some point, I clicked and saved. Never know when they'll come in handy.

This is the original, unaltered scan in question.



It's Cutman and Gutsman. Pretty harmless, right?

Not the way I saw it.

I started with focus on Gutsman as the image came up, and just sort of moved my eyes down and around. In a way, it seems like Cutman is giving Gutsman a kick in a painful place, right? But that's not it, either.

In case you can't tell the way things stood out to me, let me show you by removing what seemed like seperate elements to me:



Oh. My. God.

I really don't know what to say about this. If it was deliberate, the subtlety is to be applauded, as it's been sitting on my drive for over 3 years, and I don't think I ever noticed. If not... well, wow.

Now, let's add those removed elements to the picture again:



...Gutsman's expression as he gazes upon Cutman takes on a whole new meaning, doesn't it?

I'm the last person on Earth to make weird pairings, but this picture just asks for it.

That's just it. I wasn't looking for it, I didn't think real hard about it. I just looked at the pic, at Gutsman first as it came up (so to speak), and there it was.
