Interesting day today. We went to look at a new apartment, but the directions got messed up some way or another, and we never got there. So we try again Sunday.

Went to EB Games, got my gift card which they were so gracious as to provide for me a converted currency form of. I really appreciate it, but two problems came up. One would be that they were out of the game I wanted, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I'd heard it had gone out of print from someone at TRU a short time back, and the lack of said game at virtually every retailer I go to seems to give it some merit. But the EB Games at Yorkdale had it... until I finally got the gift card.

So I try the one over by Sherway Gardens. Turns out, they're out too. Except one used copy someone brought in, without an instruction booklet. I want a copy of the booklet, as I'm a completist who likes the art and such anyway. But I got it for 10 dollars cheaper that way, and other than the booklet, it seems to be flawless. Hopefully Sega can provide, unless one of my loving fans(or Red's, I'm not picky) is willing to part with theirs.

Unfortunately, using my card revealed the ugly truth: whoever did the actual process of changing my US gift card to a Canadian gift card did a straight conversion: 50 US dollars to 50 Canuck-bucks. For the less-enlightened, that basically means I lost 20 C-bucks in the process. They're looking into it, though. I wanted to get the MegaMan Network Transmission player's guide with the remainder, but I guess I'll have to wait and see on that.

Oh, and despite what one manager had first told me, the other one told me that having already used the card(how I found out I lost the 20) only complicates things. But they're working on it. Said something about some sort of discount being a possibility. Which would be great, if I had money... let's hope the first guy was right, and they can add onto my card. Or give me store credit.

On that note, an apology and a thanks to Wolf for the giftcard. I was supposed to use it to get a Game Boy Player, which came out the day after I left NC, hence the gift card. After some thinking, and the news about SA2B apparently being in short supply/not being made anymore, I did some thinking, which went something like this:

Point 1: If I want SA2B, I need to act quickly, as supply seems limited here.

Point 2: GB Player just came out, and I bet it'll be around for awhile, being hardware, among other reasons. Such as jerks like me who do not wish to be relegated to emulators and portable screens(of a system I don't even have yet) for their 2-D loving.

Point 3: If I got the GB Player, there is no way I could afford any games for it right now, even with the 50% discount on select games that EB Games is offering. Any games we do have right now are for the old GB, and can work with either Red's GBs, or my Super Game Boy. Ultimately, the GB Player, much as I want it, would be useless to me right now until I got the money to get the games for it. And when I get that money, I should be able to get the Player, too.

Point 4: Unlike the GBPlayer, I can play SA2B now.

Point 5: Bonus. SA2B has what looks like a nift two-player mode, and we have two controllers. So we're good.

Point 6: Bonus #2. I'm on a major Sonic kick right now, and this helps feed it.

So I hope Wolf will be willing to forgive me for pulling a total 180 with the intended use of his present. I'm hoping that by the points made above, I've done the right thing. I ultimately hope to have both anyway, and this seemed like the more efficient means to achieve that end, without resorting to eBay.

On to the game itself. Schweetness. I'm digging the whole thing. Tails and Robotnik seem a little sluggish, but still fun. And no sign of Big the Cat yet, either. I like the character, but his part of the game ruined the first game for me, since his was y'know, vital and all to getting Super Sonic.

Now, I'm just left to wonder if those Soap Shoes are any good... they'd have to be better than the boots I'm wearing now... I've seen fishermen in cartoons pull up boots in better condition than what I'm wearing.

Btw... if Rouge is a bat, why can't she fly? Ah, video game logic...

Oh, as far as Floating Island goes... I liked the Hidden Palace better for the home of the Master Emerald.

One thing made me choke. The Space Colony Ark. I knew it was there, I knew it was called Ark, thanks to the adaptation in the comic, but I was unaware it was a space colony. In a bit of MM fiction I'm working on, I have a space colony named the same thing. I don't know the full scoop on Sega's version, but mine was for finding another world, and was sort of named for both Noah's boat and the Autobots' spaceship. I hate it when my ideas pop up in front of me later. Chaps my ass, it does. Screw it, though. I'm keeping mine the same way. I bet this one doesn't even survive the game. So NYEH.

There are only six characters in S:A2, and Knuckles has horrid level design and music. Having to play Knux is why I got frustrated and stopped playing S:A2.

Anyway, the Master Emerald was always on the Floating Isle.. Angel Island flew at the end of StH3&K, remember? However, the island sure shrank a bunch x_O it used to be believable that Knuckles could live on it.

Well, as far as I know, Hidden Palace was within the Floating Island, and the Master Emerald was there, rather than an easily-accessed pedestal on top of the island...

And so far, Knuckles' levels haven't bothered me...

Soap Shoes are great, but they aren't in business anymore. I have one of the last remaining pairs that I know of. Unfortunately, they didnt have the grind plates in them when I purchased them. As it turns out, they went belly up about a month before I bought the shoes, so no grind plates.

They make for great work sneakers now ;)

Nuts... guess the website is just left up for the hell of it, then... damn. I wanted a pair. Guess there's eBay, perhaps... still, not seen any "Sonic style" ones on the site or eBay... do they exist?
