Rockman X8 and EXE 5, hot dog.
Sep. 25th, 2004 03:16 amI should be posting this shit on MMN, I suppose, but I don't feel particularly "professional" at the moment, so I'll do it later.
But this is my LJ, where I can throw shit at the wall and let it turn brown, if I so please.
Which fortunately, I don't.
Anyway, PMM has the X8 Tokyo Game Show trailer here, with a Very Interesting Little bit of Exposition, if you ask me.
And then there's E-motha fuckin-XE 5, which I hope to be something really good. PMM has you covered for what the hell is going on, amd their trailer is here.
GyroMan.EXE is SUCH a fucking Autobot, and I want a transformable action figure of him. I just hope the random encounters are reduced. And how the hell does Rockman turn around here? Heatman and I are hazarding a guess that maybe "Select" does it... I dunno.
I feel bad for Netto's friends, though. I can sort of relate, thanks to the miracle of RPGs. Shame, too, as they practically had a team right there... just add a couple of other members.
Not to get off on a rant here, but I still firmly believe Capcom is overlooking a good way to make money, by having Blues and Rockman be equal-but-opposite roles in the two versions of a game. I'm sure a Blues-centric EXE game would do mad money, and they could tackle the same story from Netto and Enzan's respective points of view, with a little crossing over here and there.
In the meantime, I hope Colonel's game is different enough storywise to make it interesting to play both games through.

Date: 2004-09-25 09:13 am (UTC)Yeah I'm looking up to this EXE game, but I hope EXE 6 doesn't suffer the 6th MM game syndrome. What am I saying? Well remember MM6? It's not quite too much of a fan favorite. Also X6 suffered the same fate, yeah I use an SN of a character from that game, but I did a totally separate story of them. Also X6 had too many insectoid mavericks. I mean three of them! Infinity Minion, Ground Scaravich, and Commander Yanmark (Who suffers the ambigous gender curse like Centaur Man.) Yeah Centaur Man is a woman manga wise.(I still think Alia is just jealous of Commander Yanmark.)
I still await a game where Glyde actually has a battlescreen spirte set.

yeah I use an SN of a character from that game,
Which one? One of the rescued Reploids? I'm not recognizing it here.
Also X6 had too many insectoid mavericks.
Eh, depending who you are, it could be argued past ones have had too many mammals or something, I guess...

Date: 2004-09-25 05:46 pm (UTC)Well I dunno, most X games just had two at the most. X 2 had Magna Centipede and Morph Moth.

Official art. Notice the two red circles over his breasts?

Manga Centaur. The two circles were replaced by big vents. Looking at Alia, Iris, Roll, Feram, Marino, and Cinnamon... if he had been a girl, those would be boobs - not diagonally slanted vents.

Date: 2004-09-25 10:57 am (UTC)As for EXE 5, well, I'm lukewarm about it. EXE 4 sucked. Completely sucked in every way possible. It had NO redeeming values at all, and I mean that in the harshest way possible. It was a potentially awesome game that let down in every aspect of how it could have been done. Its only redeeming value was the Soul Unisons, and even then, they should have been more balanced and TRADABLE WITH THE OTHER VERSION LIKE THEY SAID IT WAS. That means not tradable, as in, I cannot trade them with my friends who also have the game, which means I cannot trade them. Yet the website and instruction manual say I can. Funny, huh?
Looking at the trailer now, all I can say id that I am BEGGING for a proper translation this time. EXE4 was rushed so badly that I had to look away in disgust at some points in the game. The story could have been better, but I think its more that the translation sucked so badly that it detracted from the story itself.
Frogive my negative tone, Capcom has just let me down very very badly this time, and I've lost any respect I;ve had for them. Square-Enix is getting to that point too. But thats a gripe for another day.

Still, at least the original of this looks better than the original of its predecessor...

Date: 2004-09-25 02:06 pm (UTC)When you asked me that, at first I was going to say "Obviously with the directional pad." But I quickly realized that turning around and moving a space at the same time would terribly screw up battling. Thrown attacks would be useless.
I'm actually starting to think now it's the L and R buttons, so that you can turn so long as the custom gauge isn't full. However they do it, it has to be easy and convenient or else the battles will suffer and because a chore.
