Holy hell, don't post for a few days, and the whole process is turned topsy-turvy... what the hell does it mean if an entry is backdated?

Anyway, got to play GameCube's version of Mega Man X Command Mission for the briefest of periods at work today, just before closing. Like, maybe five minutes. I got to see the opening, and the first little bit.

So far, I like it. Though I had about 3 random encounters in about 5 steps... man, that's going to be hell. Hope I survive. :B

X's Action Trigger move is stumping me. I activate it, and as the booklet says, I hold down the button to charge, but get nothing. So then I try tapping it instead, and it only gives me a tiny burst. I won my battles anyway, but still...

I take back what I said about the voices... sort of. Hearing them more in game, no, they aren't Legends quality, despite being done by Ocean Group, but I still say it's pretty close, at least compared to most of Capcom's typical English fare. Why they cheap out on us, I may never understand. Besides the theme music... not bad in its own right, but I just get bugged by what seems like the lower-end of the stick on this stuff. So even if I like what we get, it still bothers me.

As far as the voices, here's my ranking, from worst to best:

Mega Man 8 < Mega Man X4/Resident Evil(the original) < Mega Man X7 <<<<<<<<<<< Mega Man X Command Mission < Mega Man Legends(series)

So yeah, while Command Mission's aren't the greatest on Earth(I'm still quite fond of X's), they're still a far step above anything else we've been given before, so that's a big plus in my book. At least it seems like they're TRYING now, something I can't say for those beneath CM.

As far as Zero's goes... like I've said, I think Scott McNeil in his normal voice(from what I can tell, it's like Beast Wars/Machines Silverbolt, but without the bravado in his voice) would be perfect for an English version that sounds not unlike the Japanese version. I don't see the "surfer dude" tone in his voice, though I can sort of see where that came from. He definitely sounds teenager-ish, with an attitude. Shadow seemed alright, and General Redips(I get that right?) was ok, though he makes me uneasy.

Control is pretty good, for what it needs to be. And the first person to point out that B is dash and that I'm a hypocrite for this after all my vocal displeasure of MMAnniversary Collection can just go take a flying leap, the two play nothing alike.

Interestingly, we didn't have the PS2 version. Strange, really. I know it's an item you get further in the game, but I just think if the X8 demo were running at work, that'd be cool... except that we only seem to be getting one copy per console(or at least on GCN), and with it being a new release as well, that means we can't really keep it in the machine for any length of time, in case someone wants it. Oh well.

Also got to see the Player's Guide for the game earlier. Flipped through it a little, chiefly reading the opening story(hey Sipher, I hope that nothing happens to Alia that sees you with egg on your face here ;P ), a bit about X, Zero, and Axl, and glancing over their weapons. Now I wish I hadn't, after seeing what one of X's is. That's the kind of stuff that makes one grin from ear to ear when you're surprised by it. And part of why I so strictly avoid spoilers... not strictly enough, apparently.

On a related topic: anyone check out the Jazwares ad in the back of the CM booklet? If you haven't, take a look at the silhouette for the coming soon... you're welcome. ;) I was pushing for that to be in the next wave a LONG time ago, back when the first images started trickling out. Not sure what the accessories are going to be, however, as my contact with them has been rather lackluster as of late. I still haven't heard back from why I wasn't made aware the 3"ers I suggested had come out. Finding out through Rockman.EXE Online was a real slap in the face, there... at least they seem to be made pretty decently. Hopefully they'll be well received, so that phase 2 of my idea might come to fruition...

In other news, looks like Red and I may have found a new place already, though it's over a hundred dollars more a month than we're paying now. Red is confident in our ability to afford it, and I sure hope so... it'll at least be nice to get some quiet.

Of course, I'm looking at getting a second job, which would have me working produce at a grocery store during days... yippee, ha-ha, whee... two jobs and school. Once upon a time, I swore it'd never happen to me, and I couldn't understand what drove people to do such things. Hopefully, I can manage it long enough to get through school, and hopefully see a career take off from there, though I hear it can take around 18 months after before any real work starts happening. At least I have a goal. I'll pull us out of this lifestyle even if it kills me...

Speaking of killing me, I hope [livejournal.com profile] magnus_samma won't for what I'm about to say. Depending on how I feel, I may or may not be able to RP tonight. Turns out that just earlier, someone needed someone else to fill in for closing duties tonight, and I couldn't really afford to turn down the hours, especially since I don't have too much in hours next week, though this could help change that. I get to be trained to be on cash tonight, so that may help my advancement up the ladder to BECOME A SUPERSTAR PLAYER-TYPE PERSON. Right. So anyway, it'll be sometime after midnight, more likely after 12:30 before I get online, if I do. Have to see how the masses treat me.

Sorry to ramble, folks, but a lot of shit's been happening, and I guess I haven't been taking the proper time to log it as it happens. I'll try and fix that if I can.

For posting to LJ, I use a client, so I haven't seen the changes to the web version... But it looks like the same things, just rearranged aesthetically. As for backdating an entry, it's in case you, say, want to make an entry for two years ago. You'd have to check "Backdate entry" for that.

Backdating is always used for a post that you're submitting for a previous date, but only if you already have a more recent post. For example, if you wanted to make a post for two years ago, but haven't made a post since that date, you don't need the "Backdate entry" box checked. Don't worry, LJ will bark at you if you need to check it.

And one interesting side-effect: Backdated entries will not appear on the friends list of people who've friended you. They must go to your actual journal to view them.

And hey, good luck on the new place situation! And good luck with the jobs at school. It can be a real strain, but hopefully you'll still have enough steam at the beginning to carry you through. And I hope, really hope you have a school that's better about finding you a job that mine was. 9 months with a degree and I'm still in retail, while I've heard of people from some schools being helped to find a job as soon as they graduate. No matter what kind of job it is, the experience is beneficial, I'm sure...

But anyway, I'm sure others will understand if your hobbies go by the wayside in leiu of work or school. We've all been there, right?

...I have no idea what any of that means(regarding backdated entries).

So it's like, if I wanted to make a post two years ago, and I just forgot until now, I can make the entry for two years ago?

Maybe it's the movie I just watched that's putting words in my mouth, but that's just fucking retarded.

Anyway, thanks for the encouragement :)

I guess it's an option more for if you go on vacation, or something. Say if you're gone for a week, and instead of writing one big entry when you get back, you want to write individual day-to-day ones.

But let's say you last made an entry on April 1st, you go on your trip, and you make a post on April 8th to say "I'm back!" Now, if you wanted to post something for April 2nd, you normally can't, since LJ would say, "How can you be posting in the past? This is not possible!"

So that's when you check the backdate option, post the entry for April 2nd, and LJ is happy. But since you used the backdate option, it won't appear in your friends' friend lists.

You can check the backdate option no matter what, though. This will still have the side-effect of not making it show on friend lists, in case you want to keep things semi-secret but don't want to lock the entry, for whatever weird reason.

But anyway, yeah... It's not a terribly vital option. And if you need to use it, LJ will tell you anyway.

About the action trigger in CM: I had the same problem till I played a ways in and figured out that in order to let the Buster charge, you need a shitload of Weapon Energy. Sit back for a few turns and don't use your subweapons, just your main or items and you'll gain enough Weapon Energy to actually let it be effective (X's base WE recharge rate is 25% per turn). Most of the Action Triggers for the other characters are like that as well, but they require over 50% WE to activate, and they drain it all after the attack. Also, don't worry about the encounters. I've found them to be intermittant, and, after you gain a few levels, they're challenging enough to be fun, but not stupidly hard. BTW, read the manual sometime, if you get the chance; the setting might make you smile (or piss you off, depending....).

Read over the manual, maybe I missed what you're talking about...?

Don't tap. Just wait a second (it doesn't respond right away) and then just hold down A until you get a maximum charge. Press A again and X fires.

Thanks for informing me of the Jazwares Ad. Looking forward to getting him.. When does he come out? :) Do we know??

So much new MM stuff comin' out now. *happy grin* ^,,^

No, like I said, they're keeping me in the dark on a lot of the specifics. I know who's in the next 6" wave, and that's about it.
