Sep. 2nd, 2007 04:33 pmSo, in wishing
jackscarab a happy birthday in my own way (Red beat me to the Simpsons one), I found myself on Wikipedia looking up the name of the episode I wanted, and continuing to read about the show after that. It's disappointing to me that the final "rap" intro was cut from the last season's DVDs, which are pretty sparse of extra content anyway. Sure, most people like the other intro better, but they've got four or five other seasons full of it.
As I continued reading (something I knew, that others might not have: Gregg Berger, voice of Odie and Orson, was also Grimlock in TransFormers. Plus, Frank Welker was at least five different characters, including Booker, the little chick from US Acres), I was lead to the blog of Mark Evanier, one of the writers for most of the show's run, and who seems like a cool enough guy.
I'm in the process now of reading over some past entries of his, and I may keep an eye on it just in case something interesting should come up. Here are a few entries I liked:
Making "Mistakes."
Telling a funny joke isn't hard, it's getting people to listen to it.
I need to see how this turned out.
Johnny Hart, R.I.P.
Garfield and Friends was one of my absolute favorite cartoons growing up, so getting to see this stuff from one of the writers is fun, and reminds me that I need to get the rest of the DVDs someday; I only have Volume 1 thus far, and I believe Garfield as Himself.

It's funny: Bill Murray provided the voice for Garfield in the live-action movies. He was also Venkman in the Ghostbusters movies, and Music did the voice of Venkman in the Real Ghostbusters cartoons.
