That's fucking incredible. You would be CHARGED MONEY to keep a sports artifact?! And it would be taxed if you sell it?

And people wonder why baseball isn't the American pasttime anymore. Clearly, it's fallen away in favor of the OTHER American pasttime: keeping as far away from the IRS as possible.

Indeed. Where does the US Government get off claiming 35% in taxes? Two hundred years ago, people fought and died over taxes. Now our piggish government rakes us over the coals financially.

The absurdity of our tax system always leads me to draw one conclusion: WE NEVER NEED NEW TAXES. I don't care what the excuse is. The hot one now is "OMG, we need to raise taxes so we can repair all those decrepit bridges so we don't have another Minneapolis!" Yeah, if you weren't busy sending a plane filled with $15 billion in cash, only to get "lost" in Iraq, maybe you'd have that money.

This is why the Democrats fill me with dread. I hate Bush and his cronies like no tomorrow, but damn it, we can't swing it too far to the left. For all of their preaching about the "1% of taxpayers," I'm amazed that I apparently fall into that criteria.
