Hoo-boy, what a day.

Went to the knee doctor, and the... eh, news is that I don't need surgery. Not yet, anyway. I'm just slightly disappointed at this because what I was told was that with surgery, there would be no further problems. I rather liked the definitive sound of that.

Still, I'm not quite perfect. I need to look into a brace (yay, something else I can't afford), some exercises, and I need to avoid lifting stuff and using stairs as much as I can.

Otakon '08 will be a blast, I'm sure. 9_9

Speaking of which, I REALLY need to finish my write-ups about that.

Looking at some writing stuff for money. One Red keep encouraging is a spot about action figure collecting, but I'm really not sure if I'm up to the level they'd want. I'll try for it anyway; the posting has been around for awhile, but doesn't seem to have been taken. At the same time, I figure one more qualified person, and I'm toast.

I am a collector, but perhaps in the loosest sense of the term, insofar as I have a collection. And some stuff, I even keep in package. And a lot of it, I don't. I buy a lot of loose stuff, too.

And TransFormers, it seems almost criminal to keep them in a box; I might only do it for the rarest of rare, and even then if it was something I'd played with already, like an original G1 Optimus Prime.

Oh well, all I can do is try. Thoughts on the whole action figure thing would be appreciated. Stuff they call for is behind the cut:

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate is a long-time action figure collector with a broad knowledge of the topic, as well as writing experience and connections to the action figure collecting community.

PRIMARY AUDIENCE:

The primary audience of the Action Figure Collecting site is the beginner and intermediate collector. This audience wants to know what the action figures they have are worth, where to buy and sell action figures, and how to identify a valuable action figure.

TOPICS TO COVER:

Beginner Content:

There's a couple of other things to try for as well. Hope things proceed in a positive manner.

I've told you this a million times already: NO knee surgery--especially not the type you need--is "definitive." For that matter, you weren't really told that surgery would cure all your problems, or if you were, I certainly don't remember it. If anything, I'd talk to the doctor about physiotherapy.

Re: The Writing Job...

My dad has a great piece of advice I seldom actually heed that says, "The worst they can do is say no." I say go for it. You know a decent amount about it, you no doubt have a lot of resources and contacts you can draw from if you need it, and above all else, I think it sounds like a really fun writing job. So I'd honestly say you should go for it. Let them judge who's qualified and who's not, because anyone whose creative is ALWAYS the worst judge of their work.

And if you need any help with ideas and what not for the repair stuff, just ask. My obsession with restoring old toys is getting a little scary. =p

Heh, alright, sounds good enough for me.

Truth be told, I'm not afraid of them saying "no," I'm more afraid of them saying "yes" and then not having a clue what I need to do.
