My mostly spoiler-free review of TransFormers: The Movie.

I'm a little new to the review game, but hopefully this relieves any fears.

I loved it, despite a few reservations, it was everything I could hope for of having a fan property well represented on the big screen.

And you're right, focusing on the human aspect really did change the way we watch these guys act. Bay kept it about the people, something we can't really expect the next time around, with whoever decides to pick up the sequel.

Could be Bay. He hasn't signed anything for multi-picture so he can have leverage.

They could keep the human element to it, and I'd actually like them to. Just maybe cut it back a little bit so we get more TFs. :)

Also, I forgot to mention, it's true what they say: Bay really does make the military look good.

Honestly? I didn't follow the Sector 7 stuff to closely. I think it's more an "added depth" than "necessary viewing" situation.

But, I do see where you're coming from. Both points are a lot like the prequel comics, in that regard.

I was a little more annoyed by the B-plot with Maggie (did you know that was her name? They never even said it in the whole film), after reading Ben Yee's review after seeing the movie. The stuff going on there seemed kind of needless within the movie itself. But Sector 7 seemed ok. You've seen one government organization formed a century ago to combat possible alien threats and utilize their technology, you've seen them all.

I didn't like the movie. It was too crude humored and gritty like Bay's other films, and I really don't think it mixes well with tfs. Also there was barely any character development for the bots. Too many confusing fights near the end too.

I only really remember one crude-humor moment that involved a TF itself, really. The rest was... sort of amusing, particularly Sam and his parents. I could just relate to some of that, believe it or not.

I do agree on the latter points, especially for Decepticons. Autobots were ok. And the camerawork I think is what made the fights confusing. It was akin to strapping a camera to the knee or ankle of one of the combatants in a fight, and following it from that. You sort of get what's happening around the ends, but the middle becomes a bit of a mess.

Ya know that was the part that got me extra disgusted....

Oh and there was a few other suggestive scenes too. But yeah definitely that one...
