So I'm still hoping to get to Otakon, and to have a relatively cheap-but-decent cosplay going as well.

Just one main thing stands in the way.

Any suggestions to affix an "M" insignia to a hat? Or how to make the insignia in the first place? PlaguedOne suggested two pieces of cut cloth hot-glued onto it, but 1) I wonder if that's been tested, and 2) what sort of cloth would be recommended for it?

Felt. I highly recommend this. (Someone at AX made a nekozawa hand-puppet with the stuff. So it's been con tested and approved.)

With hot glue?

Haha. If I recall from my kindergarten days... normal glue would actually go and wet the felt pretty bad if you overdid it. Hot glue would probably be a better way to go.

Felt does work!

Anyway, fabric glue would be nicer than normal glue. Makes the stuff a little stiff so it won't come off.

Which would be better, hot glue or fabric glue?

Or hot fabric glue (if that's possible)?

fabric glue, hot glue will eventually come apart :/ (Which is a bitch because it kept happening with Silver's Ermac costume shin guards.)
