May. 26th, 2007 04:36 amGod, I hate taking the TTC. That's the Toronto Transit Commission, buses and subway, for those who don't know.
Besides the fact that using it inadvertently made me stop paying attention to my own vehicle, no fault of theirs, it's just so damned unreliable. Tried to make it to the bank today after work, wound up waiting and waiting and waiting for a bus to show up. Then, THREE pull in to the station at about the same time, and take forever in letting off their customers before we can get on and move on.
I make it to the bank after they closed, so now our account hasn't much money in it until Monday.
And it seems like now, every other damn bus that goes down the main street I follow is a short-turn bus. That is, they turn and go back BEFORE their posted destination. It'd be nice if they'd just mark the damn things already.
Normally, there's usually another bus right alongside it that takes people who have to switch onward. Not today, though, oh no.
Today, I wind up getting off the bus with a couple of other people, and waiting and waiting for another bus to show up. Then the driver tells me I can't use my transfer, because it's not a transfer point. This has never happened before, but apparently they aren't notified of short-turn buses that happen.
This, among other gripes I could go on about. The TTC sucks. Try as they might, it's no wonder people still prefer to drive their own vehicles. Even saw one going the opposite direction from me as I walked the remaining distance home citing "smog alert, use mass transit" or somesuch.
Yeah, right. Not that I don't care about the environment, but I'm not exactly in shape to bend my life around it to so heavy a degree, either, and now I get to listen to the bill collectors come after my hide for the weekend, as I can't pay them. Fun fun fun.
And just to compound annoyances, there was no sign of Sonic #175 at the comic shop. It came in last week, after all my waiting, just to be damaged and I was told the good copied would be here this week. No dice.
I'm grabbing a newsstand copy. In most cases I'd be patient, and in other cases I've been extremely patient to little or no result, but I've been chomping at the bit to read this one and avoiding the spoiler topics around, and I'm tired of waiting. Hate to not support my LCS, but I gots to do what I gots to do.
