Playing a bit of Mega Man ZX lately, given my whole Sentai/Henshin mood and Advent and Star Force and all that jazz.

I'd started a Normal game with Aile awhile back, but somehow it was too intolerable for me to play through, and I restarted and blasted through on Easy. It's not so much that Normal is too much for me, but it's a simple matter of Biometals costing too fucking much to repair on Normal. It's the Cyber Elf problem all over again.

Unless, of course, you happen to beat the boss at Level 4. Of course, if you don't, that means you pretty much have to endure the whole level over again, and that can be tedious in itself.

So, yeah. So I could at least see Aile's story, I blasted through on Easy. And in the process, I think ZX has become my new default mode. I still love Model PX, but I discovered this time just how fucking DEVASTATING ZX can be in a battle with a boss. Up + B in the air for the former "Sky Waltz" move, i.e. somersault slash, and holy fuck, look out Sonic! Playing through the last stage, where I don't have to worry about levels and can go right for the weak spot, I was able to kill some bosses in about 2 good hits. The mole (can anyone be bothered to memorize all these names any more?) can be a good one to see it in action, when he jumps up out of the ground at you while you're spinning. If they had blood in ZX, the screen would be covered in it like a bottle of ketchup in a blender.

And even the almighty enemy leader went down in a short time to this move.

Of course, this was all on Easy. My luck, they nerf it down to the level of feather-touch on Normal, but I'm at least inclined to check.

I am annoyed that the fun secrets, like Model X in the main game and moreso Model O aren't obtainable with the Easy game. It's not that I can't work at Normal and get to where I can get this stuff, but fuck, who's got the time? I still have Zelda and stuff to go through, and if I had the money, plenty of other DS games to play. I still need to beat MMBN5DS, and you can bet your ass that one isn't going to be 100%.

As I think I've mentioned before, the more I play the game, the more I hate the map, and see what other people are talking about. The first time through, I savored everything. I explored every nook and cranny, and really got into the whole exploration facet of the game. So when I needed to find a place, I had a good idea where to go, or at least where to look.

Second time through, as you're trying to cut out a lot of the unnecessary stuff, well, it becomes a lot more agonizing to do. They're supposed to be making a good map for Advent, but it makes me wish there was some way to make it work retroactively with the first game, even like a download or something.

Oh well. It's still a fun game, definitely worthy of the name, but still has some kinks to work out as well. I think the price has dropped on it a little recently, so if that's what you were waiting for, I recommend giving it a shot.

I was nuts to start with Aile on normal mode, but I did pretty decent. Now I just need to play the final stages.

X_X ugh Omega....

I beat ZX on Normal with no problems, It didnt take me too long either

really your not supposed to upgrade the Armors that much, past they're basic settings, your just supposed to come back with better stats, and refight the bosses, better ranks will auto upgrade them.

I stopped at The first boss in hard though.

Ditto to what MB said. If you'd rather not save up the Energy Crystals, revisit the bosses later on. Doesn't matter how many hits you take, as long as you never hit the Biometal. In this sense, it's easier to get high levels in MMZX than it was to get high ranks in MMZ.

Up+B attack? ZX? [goes back to replay it]

I thought of that, but it takes a while for them to start reappearing; I think you have to wipe out the first four, at least.

And Up and Y, rather. Damned changing configurations...

Up and ATTACK.

Well, if ZX works as well for me in Normal as it does in Easy, that might not be such a problem. Just take a different strategy to approach.

...>_> Man. I kept finding myself blazing through the repairs on the biometals in no time. Except the ones I knocked down to 1. Several of 'em are easy to beat with at least level 3. Others, like flammole, just aren't worth the trouble. Probably doesn't hurt that I would often do all the side-quests. ... WHICH ALL SUCK. Seriously. They suck, they're slow. And not any fun. But they give you so many crystals x_X

Though. If you try to use weaknesses it's just not worth it. My GOD did they fuck up the elemental attacks.

I don't even remember how many crystals you'd get, but then, I don't think I've done many/any sidequests on Normal, come to think of it.

But, yeah. They were fun enough the first time, but I completely ignored them the second time through.

I think another problem was that I went after Model P first before, as I did on Easy; for some reason, getting there was a lot harder on Normal, specifically the blimp area.
