Aug. 4th, 2004 05:12 pmSo, I've finally beaten Legends 2, and here is what I think. Spoilers, natch.
So I finally got my Shining Laser powered to full capacity. My greatest regret is that you don't get it until so late in the game, the fun to be had is a bit restrictive.
Nonetheless, it took me to a decisive victory over Sera. What puzzles me now is, why the hell can't Yuna, Sera, and MegaMan get back to Terra? That ship worked the past 80 times I used it, so what's the deal? And how did Data get back?
Speaking of Data, I wonder if that last bit with him was something only the viewer could understand, or if Roll and Tron could, too? I mean, has Data ever REALLY spoken in English, or have we simply been listening through the ears of the one person who could understand him, MegaMan?
On to more important matters. The ending proves to me that, despite peoples' interpretations of "The End" being the end of Legends, there is DEFINITELY more to the story.
So why haven't we seen Legends 3 yet? 2 reasons, as I see it. And remember that somehow, I have a knack for understanding the stuff that happens in Capcom for stuff like this... I've been right before.
Anyway, reason 1 is the primary one, that being that they've simply been too busy with Battle Network. Some of the names remain the same, and I've heard it's the same team, so once that dies down, I think they'll have time to go back to Legends, which Inafune has professed to love and definitely wants to get back to(and hey, he's not even said that about the original series- bonus for Legends fans).
Reason 2, however, might be that they have been wanting to build up the next antagonist in the Legends series... and they've been doing so with what's become known as the hardest of the hard of Mega Man games...
I believe that Legends 3 will see the return of Neo Arcadia.
I am VERY sure that the Elder System that the Master's people shut down, the remnants of which we've been seeing in ruins and Reaverbots, is what was once the mighty Neo Arcadia. Need proof? The locales in MMZ series are not unlike those ruins in Legends in appearance. And let's face it, Reaverbots look a LOT like old Neo Arcadian surplus.
Just look into their eyes and see the truth...
So yeah, I think the rise of the Elder's System will be that much more impressive when we see what it truly is...
...if I'm right.
But the question would remain... who or what, if anything, would be leading the old System? And what will it do? Would it hold carbons to the same standard as humans? Or would they just be something to be eliminated, explaining why they attack in ruins and such?
Will the Elves be revived as well?
And what role, if any, could X and Zero play?
Of course, it'd be awesome to stumble across a nest of Pantheon Hunters(official term for X-drones, aka X-troopers) in a ruin.
But then again, what if Neo Arcadian tech is just that much more powerful than the stuff of Legends? Most see X's tech level as being stronger than Classic's, and Zero moreso. But I personally thought Legends', save for maybe the odd Juno or Sera, was closer to the original series. We could be in BIG trouble.
The future should be VERY interesting...
And I don't know if I've mentioned this here before, but unless Zero 3 proves me wrong(no spoilers, please, I'd rather see for myself in a few months), then I believe when Ciel finally does discover/create a new energy source... it will be the quantum refractors.

hi.
Date: 2004-08-04 04:20 pm (UTC)I believe Data took the ship back.
and yeah, no one but megaman can understand data. everyone else hears the "eee-eee!"
Re: hi.
Date: 2004-08-04 06:01 pm (UTC)And I get the impression that Data stopped the whole Mini-Me talk after he got back from space. It would make a kind of sense- Trigger is trapped up there with the girls, and as Data has the knowledge for the rescue, he needs to communicate better. Is it something he can turn off and on? I dunno. It makes the Roll and Tron fighting over how to build the rocket a little bit funnier, though. The two of them are so determined to build a ship their own way, when Data is telling them all they need to do is follow his plan.
"YOU STAY OUT OF THIS, DATA!"
XD
(another thought. It's indicated pretty thickly that the group has been at this rescue attempt for a while- enough for Tron to become familiar enough with Data to call (or shout at) him by name. The Bonnes must have earned their stripes to be so friendly with those they once pillaged. :P)
Re: hi.
Date: 2004-08-04 08:23 pm (UTC)No mention of the space pod. One theory I just read is that with Elysium powering down, the hangar doors no longer would open.

Re: hi.
Date: 2004-08-04 08:48 pm (UTC)One thing that piqued my interest in that quote, though, is the idea that Data was giving ancient technology to the people. Not the technology-giving part, but the fact that the monkey was giving it to them. That means someone other than Trigger at some point understood Data and word was spread. (referring back to the "Data started speaking English like he'd spoken it for years after he got back from space" shtick)
Either that or he stood on a podium, cleared his throat, and with cameras from across the globe pinned on him, made an opening statement.
"Eeee ee eee-eee, eeeee eiiiieee, ee ee ei eee."
"What'd he say?"
"I dunno. Some nonsense about rep-loins and carbohydrates, I guess."
Re: hi.
Date: 2004-08-04 10:10 pm (UTC)Pretty sure he's robotic, since he's got all of Trigger's data, and well, just look at him ;P

LOL. Well, he probably just told the few present at the end there...

Re: hi.
Date: 2004-08-04 10:36 pm (UTC)Data: Memory Unit Data, TRANSFORM! *transforms into a Laptop*
Roll: *logs on* EEEK! How'd Megaman get pictures of me like that?! To get THAT shot, he'd have to be ten inches ta- .....DAAAATAAA!!!!
Data-Laptop: ...Eep.
Re: hi.
Date: 2004-08-05 08:17 am (UTC)Hmm, sounds like logging on might be worthwhile, btw...

Date: 2004-08-04 05:35 pm (UTC)but there is a lot of weight to those theories. Though, I suspect there won't be so much of a leader in the old system. It's just that, a system. It functions by strict rules and guidelines, without any human like intelligence.. though maybe I just think that'd be awesome

Date: 2004-08-05 08:15 am (UTC)I had completely forgotten about Gatz(who goes uncredited in the cast list for some reason) integrating with the pod... in fact, that's still fuzzy for me. This is what I get for not playing for long periods of time.
Good thing I have that save state from just before the battle with Geetz.
...when did Sera destroy Gatz, btw? Like, was it when he was trying to override during the last battle?

Date: 2004-08-05 01:19 pm (UTC)"I could've wiped him out anytime I wanted, but just to show you I mean it, I'll kill him off right now."
Something like that. I don't think it's clear that Gatz is destroyed/eliminated/deleted, but he very well could've been, considering his final words. (I remember the impressions I get more than the actual words, so I could be off)
