WHERE ARE MY DAYZ GOIN'?!
Apr. 13th, 2007 12:00 amSo as mentioned before, at my employer's request, I went in early today at 11 to work a slightly longer shift. With the end of my contract there coming up this weekend, I've been grabbing whatever hours I can get.
After my shift wrapped up today, seems I did really well on "conversions" (i.e. "sales," but for the fact we aren't really selling anything, just getting people registered for radio contests). I think I was even used an example for one other person (seventy-something vs. forty-something).
Well, that seemed to ignite some change.
I was asked to come in for 11 tomorrow, and Saturday (which was 12-7), and I agreed. More hours, and I at least get off at a better time.
My big surprise is when they asked me if I could work Monday, and I nearly accepted, except Monday is sort of my "busy" day. Besides psychotherapy (which I kept to myself), it's my chance to catch Raw, and just have a day besides. So I retracted, but told them I could do pretty much any other day of the week.
So, am I going to be kept on for longer? Hard to say, but I believe I'll try and get to the bottom of it tomorrow or Saturday, and if I'm sticking around, hopefully I can negotiate decent hours for myself that aren't going to kill me.
With an 11-5:30 shift, I have to leave at 10, which means I need to be up at 9, and I don't get home until a bit after 6:30. Today, took a nap after dinner and woke up around midnight here. Normally, they want me in at 5:30(4:30 yesterday), so I usually have to leave an hour before, and wake up an hour before that, and the commute home is God-awful, I'll get off at 11 and usually be home nearing 1am.
Strange, but it seemed like there was less time when I calculated it earlier.
Saturday is going to be a bitch, though. 11-7, ugh.
Maybe I whine too much, though. It is decent work, with pretty good pay, I shouldn't be complaining. At the same time, need to be careful, lest I start to loathe my job. And if I can't get anything else done, that could start to be the case.
More as it develops, I guess.

All the same, if I could get out a little earlier, it'd help me quite a bit given the commute.
