And what's more, Europe's price won't be changing, either.

Pay more, get less. I guess that's a way to try and recoup losses...

This isn't really news, so to say. The SCE heads said a while back that they would be transitioning from hardware to software emulation, as it'd be cheaper in the long-run (I can't find an article on it at the moment, though).

But... I didn't think it'd happen so soon. Or that Europe would never see a hardware emulator PS3!
That part is news.

[sighs] I was hoping they'd do the smart thing and rollout a PERFECT PS2 emulator before switching from hardware to software... Oh, who was I kidding?

Do they want to destroy the PS3? Is this some sort of self-mutilating punishment for their minions not being willing to shell out their soul for their Mona Lisa?

At this point, they can charge a million dollars for it, or a buck-fifty, I'm just not that interested except for PS2 playback.

The only interest PS3 itself has to me is "potential," in that there's potentially a chance they might eventually release a game I'd like to play there.

Maybe. Which is made further interesting by the fact the PS3 isn't even available in Europe yet, and Sony has become notorious as enemy of the import market after Lik-Sang and the PSP incident.
