Jan. 1st, 2007 04:34 amOk, space is starting to become something of a slight issue on the ol' computer here. No doubt a large part of it is due to images. Simple fact, I am an image whore, and will not hesitate to save any image I may happen to like for any reason.
Naturally, this adds up.
Moreover, I tend to save pictures I already have, usually with the planned-but-never-realized intent of comparing, and keeping the best quality version.
Now, I've heard that there is a program, or maybe programs, that can go through your files and eliminate duplicate images. Sounds pretty good. But I've been reluctant to use it, because I've heard nothing to vouch for how accurate or reliable it is.
So if I could get any recommendations, maybe someone vouching for how good a program is or what it can do, or shortcomings, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I figure I can try and burn stuff to CD, but I would like to maximize efficiency by eliminating that which is no longer needed.

Date: 2007-01-01 01:21 pm (UTC)I mean, if you wanted it to check and delete files with the same name, or files that contain the exact same data (as in, the 1s and 0s are identical, or at least nearly), I could see that happening. But computers can't "see" the image so if you have one pic' of Command Mission X in JPEG format, and a separate copy of the same image in BMP format.. the computer would just see them as completely separate.
You're pretty much stuck doing this by hand.
