...but those hands are bullshit. They want too damn much for too damn little reward: a damn stage that should be available to start with. The least they could have fucking done is give you an extra life to go with. Hell, they fucking flung Donkey Kong and Bowser further than anyone could EVER hope to come back for on their first collective attack, which was the first attack of the round.
Why do game developers have to be a bunch of fucking pricks nowadays? It's like if a game isn't hard enough to make you want to rip out the throat of another creature with nothing more than your teeth, it's not a good game.
Sad there's such a damned blemish on an otherwise good game. All this so I can fight on a stupid FLAT PLATFORM. It just ain't worth it...

Edit: Broke out the ol' Nintendo Power Strategy Guide to see if they had any other pointers... seems I was misinformed at some point along the way. Looks like I have to clear EVERY event match to get Final Fucking Destination... no. No way in hell, it's not worth Event 50, much less every other damn last one of them. No. Fuck it. Fuck it all. Master Hand and his little playmate can go wank each other off for all I care. I'm finished, done with it, el finito. No more. Elvis has left the building.
Thanks to everyone who offered advice, but it seems my bad luck coupled with my rather nasty temper on such things has clearly marked the end of the road for me here. So instead of bitching about this game, I'll instead bitch about how Pikmin, Zelda, and Metroid are all seeing sequels here before slagging Super Smash Bros. Come to think of it, aren't there two Mario Party games for this thing? And another thing, aren't they doing another Mario Tennis or Golf or something? I think we're due, and it's not like there's not a wealth of ideas from people for what to add... hell, Sonic as a playable is at the top of my list.

Date: 2004-05-22 05:56 am (UTC)And why are you bitching about Pikmin getting a sequel before Smash Bros? There has only been one Pikmin title so far, so I'd think that'd be a good thing. :P
Sonic playable in a third Smash Bros. game is a dream, and won't happy. SSB is Nintendo's happy fest to celebrate itself, and I doubt they'd let Sega or any other company get involved in it. Nintendo still has plenty of other characters they can put in it -- Wario, Pit, Little Mac, the Ballon Fighter, and any other characters from oddball titles and stuff like F-Zero, Donkey Kong Country, and what have you.

Date: 2004-05-22 12:02 pm (UTC)I've no beef with Pikmin getting a sequel before SSBM; I just think that one getting a sequel, and not the other(arguably more popular one) seems a bit whacked.
As for Sonic... Sega and Nintendo have been working together on stuff like F-Zero and Star Fox, and Yuji Naka DOES seem to favor Nintendo over the others... I think it could happen above any other non-N character because a lot of people WANT it to happen; so much so that people fell for EGM's prank without a clue. Let's face it, Sonic Vs. Mario is a dream match, and I still think it, if no other, could happen. Why? Money. What better way to get people to buy what would essentially be the same game over again than to offer something everyone's been chomping at the bit for since the first?

Date: 2004-05-22 12:07 pm (UTC)As for difficulty, I'm past the point where I can and do play games for challenge... I just don't have the time and inclination I once did to spend so much time on a single game, especially with so many others out there I'd like to play. I think challenge should be there for those who want it; Metroid Zero Mission was too easy for me when I started playing, so I jacked it up a notch til I felt it was suitable for me. Simple as that.
So like I said, violence-inducing challenge for those who want it. And me? I don't want this challenge anymore, so screw it. As I said, those two hands can go jerk each other off. All I want out of this is to beat the ever holy-hell out of someone.
SSBM has been one of those games where I felt if I lost, it was my fault... but that ends in those event modes. Those could at least have difficulty settings like the rest.

Date: 2004-05-22 12:10 pm (UTC)Here's irony for you: on the GB MM games, classic series, 4 and 5, if you died enough times, then Dr. Light upgrades your Buster. Yet in MMZ, the only way to get anything that might HELP you is if you're already so good that you probably don't NEED the assist in the first place.
And stupider still is, RmZ is obviously intended for an older audience, between its dark setting, blood spills, and of course, the insane challenge. So why Capcom felt the need to tone down the blood so they can fit it into the hands of kids who probably won't do very well at it is beyond me... unless it's greed, plain and simple. MMZ is one game I don't recommend for younger kids at TRU.

Date: 2004-05-22 06:40 pm (UTC)But think about it; kids these days probably have an edge. They're introduced to harder stuff first, and while it means less of them will succeed, the ones that do will be just that much more skilled. Plus, little kids have zounds more free time than people our age do, so they CAN devote 85% of their lives to honing their skills and getting better.
And hmm, Smash Bros. 3... You're right, it's one of the very first games for the GameCube, and it doesn't have a sequel yet! Hopefully they're just working harder to ensure that we have more secret characters that aren't so close to existing ones. I guess SSBM did have an alright balance between new characters and clones, though. And playable Sonic and perhaps Tails would be awesome! It's definitely a possibility as you said in another post. It's just a matter of whether or not Nintendo will get around to actually making the game... Since there was no hint of it at E3, it may be a long wait. Probably not until next year, if ever...
As for Mario Party, yeah, there's 4 and 5 came out a few months ago. Mario Party 5 looked really cool from the demo, but to be honest, Mario Party 4 got a little boring after a while. I just didn't like most of the mini-games... At least they didn't have those stupid events that were pure 50/50 chance whether you won or lost. I forget which Mario Party had that, but I absolutely hated it.

You don't think Nintendo really put all their cards on the table at E3, do you? ;) For all we know, they could be saving it as a Christmas surprise... their "killer ap" if nothing else is ready.
