First things first: today is [livejournal.com profile] woekitten's birthday. Go give her some congratulations or something. To celebrate, we're looking at abusing the local steakhouse's birthday special.

Today was a banner day for me. Ok, not really, but I did manage to make a cool discovery of sorts. We had gone to Yorkdale, because I'd misinterpreted(or they had misspoken, whatever) what EB Games had called to say regarding the gift card I'm trying to convert for Canadian use, so that we may get a GB Player. Anyway, it was on the way home, so it was a matter of "why not" as much as anything.

As it happens, Yorkdale is hosting an antique show until tomorrow. What that means is that any sort of junk possible is being sold throughout the mall, making the already crowded building even harder to move through. Actually, it wasn't that bad, really. Surprisingly, even.

Anyway, there's this one guy who's always there when they come, by the food court, and he usually has odds and ends like toys and stuff from restaurants, other odds and ends. So I decided to check by, despite not having any luck for TransFormers the past several shows prior. Sifting through the basket, I did find some TFs from McDonald's, the Beast Machine ones. Sadly, I had them already: Optimus Primal, Megatron, and Cheetor. I was really hoping to find some Vehicon Generals, but oh well.

I did find something else... Beast Wars. Not McDonald's Beast Wars, the real thing: Ironhide(part of Magnaboss), two Retraxes, Cybershark(non-TM2), and best of all, Tarantulas.

Sadly, they were less complete than I thought when I left, as I decided to figure out how to transform them properly from their mangled states later. I thought I had it all figured out, after sifting and attaching missing pieces.

So now I've got a clue what the deal is. Ironhide is missing his elephant head, though he still has the tusks. If I can find instructions, he might be able to at least stay in robot mode. One Retrax seems complete, the other is missing his robot legs. What I like about him is that he looks like a pillbug version of Unicron when rolled up. In fact, his head sort of resembles the Chaos Bringer, thanks to the horns. Cybershark, an unexpected favorite, is missing some missiles, and his robot head. :\ Still, he's fun anyway, and at least has a complete shark mode. And Tarantulas is missing three legs/missiles from his spider mode, and his gun. But at least he has a salvagable robot mode. TM would've been preferable, but all things considering, the price for all this was good: 3 dollars Canadian. Oh, and that's including a Toronto Blue Jays troll that Red wanted.

Prior to the mall, we were at Red's parents' house, having a birthday dinner of sorts for her. Instead of the usual hot dogs and hamburgers, we got steaks instead. :D Other goodness as well.

In other news: my tenure as GM in the Battle Network RPG is now officially over, ending with a session to celebrate Celeste's 14th birthday, which went over pretty well I think. Now to get that Legends fic done and work from there. And planning on 21XX. I'm conflicted there, as I'd like to include some elements from X7, but my "spoil anything and I KILL YOU" attitude and not having played it kind of makes it rough.

Main elements I'm looking at possibly using are the Robot Ride Armor and the new cycle, once I find out how they differ from the old stuff. And it seems weapon acquisition has taken a new turn in the latest game, so I'll look into incorporating that as well, if I can. Hoping I'm not stepping on canon's toes with stuff like that, but considering the general tech has been around for about 100 years, and EVERY hero(and a villain or two) had it back then, I imagine having weapons systems like X and Zero do aren't really unfeasible. But I might restrict Axl's ability; it's supposed to be what makes him so damn unique, and if I have a group of Mighty Morphin' Maverick Hunters on my hands, that'd destroy half or more of Axl's significance, I figure. So unless someone can really convince me of why their character can do that(having it before Axl came around being one possibility, and I mean that from a player standpoint, not character), then there's no way in Hell.

Let's see, anything else to say of note? Nope, don't think so, so I'll just be closing this out now...
