Good news? Bad news? Depends on you, I guess. Let's just call it news.

I had hoped to have this done sooner... quite a bit sooner, actually. I've heard people complain about me flooding their Friends lists on LiveJournal with my massive newsposts.

At the same time, there are those who've rather enjoyed the entire thing. It seems quite a number of people are informed of things thanks to me.

So it is with this that I am hoping that a good compromise can be reached:

Essentially, what this page is doing is allowing me to seperate the more personal stuff, which I'll continue posting here, of course, from various things like news or interviews or points of interest, as I call them(neat Flash movies, AMV, whatever).

Of course, this is NOT a "complete" news site. It still skews largely towards the stuff that catches my eye as I browse all around, that I feel like passing along and provoking some discussion with. Basically, an extension of my LJ blogging, but more accessible.

Also, note the Google ads at the top. I'm hoping, since Canada and I can't seem to reach very much in the way of agreement when it comes to me working(hopefully that'll change later today, wish me luck), maybe I can turn over a small amount of revenue through ad clicks.

And hopefully, with enough traffic, I can get some better paid advertising going on.

So, I'll ask anyone who'd like to help out just a little to maybe click an ad, but ONLY if it seems relevant to your interests. Pay Day Loans? Screw that noise(unless that'd help you in some way), I don't even know why it's there.

Sonic the Hedgehog action figures? Hey, you can at least look, right? No harm in that, maybe there'll be a neat picture or something.

I'm still debating whether or not to continue with the list format. I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I'd also love it if people who like to respond might sign up over there. It's not required to respond by any means, and it's your own perogative to do so, but I find it more fun to discuss things when I know who you are.

I'm still tinkering with the site a little, some new things like rotating banners(that is, randomized per visit/refresh), the About page(where I'll credit those who helped make this possible(which I plan to do here as well), as well as some other bits), the quotes at the top, but it is for all intents and purposes ready to go.

And today's news is up and waiting for you. Plus archives full of old news, points of interest, commentaries/rants, and fun stuff. Only hitch is that I need to go and title some stuff, as the search pretty much makes you click the comments link to view it. But the Search itself works pretty well, better than some sites. Feel free to comment on anything in the archive, too, if you wish. I think I'm set to be notified of such things.

At some point, if I can afford the camera, I might like to do something in the realm of video or podcasting as well.

Finally, if there is sufficient demand for it, I'm looking at making a sort of LJ Feed(viewed on your Friends page, just like this) for the site, which will notify you of updates, but it's not quite running up to the specs I'm hoping for. If you're more interested in that than in checking out the site once a day, say something here. If there's not enough interest, I may just drop the idea.

Oh, one other thing. Right now, as I said, this is just a sort of extension of my blog, I'm NOT looking at taking on a staff right now. If this thing gets big or something, maybe then, but for now, no dice. Sorry, folks. :\

Hmm, I've heard varying things about the slowdown, from problems to nonexistant. I'll ask Delta about it again.

As for the links, I'll ask him about that when he gets back, too, I sorta prefer it myself.

I've never experienced that slowdown effect, even when browsing on my laptop (the specs aren't as good as my desktop's). I'm not sure, but my only guess would be that perhaps it's your background image causing the problem. It's incredibly tiny! Normally that's a good thing, but when it's so small, it needs to be tiled so much more in order to fill the page.

So, I'm not sure if it would help, but maybe you could edit the background graphic so it's larger. I mean, not just resizing it, but increase the dimensions and copy-paste the original image until it fills up the new dimensions. Like I said, I've never seen the slowdown on your site, but I've seen it before when testing out my own HTML (though this was long ago) and it always seemed to stem from my background image.

Anyway, the site's looking great! Love the Phoenix Wright banner!

The best way to check up on whether the site is slow or not is to check MegaMan Empire, say the board or the encyclopedia or something. If it's slow, then more than likely everything I host is slow at that moment. But what shinkuu said might be true as well; remind me when I get my internet access and I'll try modifying the background image. As for the links being masked, it's on purpose. I'll look into it again when I get my access (remind me), but I think the solution will be the transfer of the url to me. *shrugs*

Just wanted to add, the vast majority of sites I link to are the likes of IGN, Gamespot and such, or Kotaku and Joystiq and such. Usually pretty safe stuff overall.

I've gotten good and bad, though the complaints pretty much fell off the map when I started combining everything into superposts. But the page was well under way by the time I got to doing that, so...

As I said, I'll work on the LJ feed thing so people can still have the FList news as well.

Though I may not advertise it so much on-site, as I still want people to visit!

Oh, and by the way... Remember the option you tried out that let you choose between "Full text" and "Summary" or something like that? Looks like it's affecting the site itself, not just feeds. Notice how your most recent post gets cut off with a "read the rest" link at the bottom... Apparently it was only a change that takes place for future posts, not all past posts...

Last I spoke with Delta, I made mention of the javascript and some of the images causing slowdown. Not sure if he ever got the time to get around to looking at it; I know he's got his own crap going on. *shrugs*

Crediting the both of us would be fair, I guess. The only javascript (unless I'm forgetting something) is the marquee. Without the javascript, the marquee will suck in either IE or FF (two most popular browsers), so I guess something needs to be sacrificed.

It's a nice looking set up. I say go all out with it. As a site, you have a good chance of eventually making some big waves in the net gaming community.
