HE-MAN NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!
Feb. 12th, 2004 09:13 pmThe He-Man.org Petition.
Yep, the new Masters of the Universe series is in danger, and personally, I think that really sucks.
Not very eloquent, but I think it gets straight to the point.
But I loved MOTU as a kid(just don't ask my parents the stories), and this new series has rekindled that, and perhaps even surpassed my appreciation for it. The storytelling and characters are far beyond what the first series ever had(which ultimately amounted to numerous He-Man look-alike walk-ons in stories presented in an episodic format).
The new Eternia and its stories are a world I love, and one I feel should NOT see its end come so soon. The good guys aren't always so good, and the bad guys are worse than ever. Skeletor, King Hiss, and Hordak go far beyond their former versions in evil, and I love every minute of it, Skeletor especially. This is one version of ol' skull-face you DON'T want to fuck with. You fail him, and you regret it. And he's even better with his twin swords, able to hold his own in combat against both He-Man AND King Randor(who also kicks ass now) at once.
But this isn't simply a Skeletor love-fest, sorry. The story goes to great detail, explaining the origins of He-Man and Skeletor, what lies within Castle Grayskull that everyone is always after, and even where He-Man's very power comes from.
The show feels of a mature tale that isn't over kids' heads, nor does it talk down to older fans, much in a similar way as Beast Wars TransFormers, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or Batman: The Animated Series(and its ilk) manage to perform.
The comics I've seen are great as well, with a beautiful art, and the new character designs from the Four Horsemen for the figures and show push the boundaries of the imagination far beyond what the old series did.
I've already signed the petition. To be frank, things are looking grim, and so I've not so much signed it in expectations that it will succeed(God and the Power of Grayskull willing), but as a show for a support for a show which has returned from obscurity in a truely new and improved form that should not see its life cut so short, so soon.
So please, join me in showing support for He-Man and the Masters by signing the petition, to show that we do care about this license, and that we do not want it to go away.
