The Protoform Sessions
Dec. 12th, 2003 11:20 pmBefore I start, I'll get to Armada soon enough. Might be in the morn, though.
Anyway, I've been working, with what little snipets of time I've had at work, I've been working on some characters of mine. Unfortunately, short spurts of time, eventual tiredness, and the fact all I had to draw with were ink pens has hindered the quality of my work. To some degree.
First up is my original Shuri.EXE pic. I used a pic of Roll as the base for this one, copying her body(tracing, actually) so I could focus my efforts on figuring the details out. All things considered, this is more or less how she looks, but sans the girlish body. Hers is more... matured, let's say. This is also the first time I've drawn a female Mecha/Navidrake head that I didn't scribble through in disgust, big thanks to
retrolex for that. And though you can't see it here, her color scheme is chiefly like her brother, Nytetrayn's, black with gold accents. Also, I didn't bother with the symbol on the chest in these pics, figuring I can add that later. The disc-thingy is there, though.
Next up is my second Shuri.EXE pic. This one has a more dynamic pose, but due to materials, I realized too late it was awkward, thanks mainly to her left(our right) arm. I had already drawn the upper arm, which got in my way, a mistake I'll try to avoid next time. I tried to find a workable pose with what I had, and this was the best I could do. That was after the body and legs had been drawn. I like how the body came out here, though it could use a smidge of work, such as her right leg, I think.(I did clean up a few stray lines in Photoshop before scanning) Also, I think her right hand came out a little too small, and her sword definitely did. Speaking of which, I figured one similar to ShadowMan.EXE's would fit nicely. Also of note is the blank belt buckle, which also sports the same symbol as the chest, that of the Dragon Knights.
The head and neck came in awkward, something I'll have to work on later. I'm still practicing on how that stuff looks, though, and to that end, comes these practice head-shots. Unsure of the bottom one's strand of hair coming out(should I get rid of it? Add another?), and the mouth should probably come back a little more.
Finally, we have the fusion of Shuri.EXE and Nytetrayn.EXE(old pic, poor quality, really gotta redraw him. Not even all the details are there, but for the RP, I wanted some sort of visual representation of the character), known as Black Draco.EXE. Story-wise, Nyte and Shuri were both originally as one in Black Draco, but were split apart. So the idea was to make a bigger, stronger looking version of Nytetrayn here(BD being male and all. More to it than that, but I won't go into it here). I think I need to bulk up the lower legs a bit, and he's still missing his tail, lower wings, pupils(I thought it'd be a neat final touch), and symbols. Also, I screwed up royal on his left foot(on our right), so I erased that in Photoshop and basically flipped the other one when I scanned.
And that's been my non-paid productivity for the week.
