In other news, a rather nice morning for video games.

God Bless The NES. 1UP.com is celebrating 20 years of this oldschool beauty.

Flash forward about to today, and we have the rival of Mario's nemesis showing up in his own game, IGN providing a hands-on preview of Shadow the Hedgehog. Can't wait to play it, myself. And videos are in the link.

Weird thing, though. I heard that the old Sega cast wasn't doing this one, and that the Sonic X cast from 4Kids was doing this now. Sonic sounds like Sonic, which is good, but he seldom tends to vary much, even between languages I find. Different voices aside, they all seem to carry something Sonic about them.

But Shadow doesn't sound as I remember in Sonic X... and Knuckles DEFINITELY sounds different to me. The VA lost the Yugi in the voice for the show, but it was still easy to figure it was the same, but here...

...yet Charmy sounds like the show. I don't know.

Funny they didn't bother to use the show model for the President, though.

Anyway, preview makes the game sound a bit more free-roaming than past stuff, though the vids make it hard to tell.

Still, would love some clarification on the voice issue...

Concerning the issue of the Sonic X cast being the VAs, it basically goes back to when Ryan got dropped by Sega as the voice of Sonic on the anime... Sega then goes on to say that they'd rather continue to use the VAs from the anime in the future Sonic games...

As for the VAs sounding in and out of the anime voice... well, they sound all the same to me from the clips and stuff...

Oh, yeah, I knew about Ryan and such, read up on that, that's where I found out about the 4Kids group doing the game...

...but still, Shadow and Knuckles sound different to me, still. Knuckles, especially.

Yay, 20 years of US-release goodness!... though I still prefer original release-anniversaries.
That reminds me, another important Nintendo-product is having it's 15th anniversary very soon!

It's mostly curiousity here. I doubt the gameplay will offer any new fundamentals besides blind shooting, so I'm mostly in it for the story.
