Oct. 21st, 2005 09:11 amUp and down day yesterday. After work, had to go out and take care of some stuff for our move, so I didn't get home and sleep til sometime in the afternoon. Before that, while we were out, we went to Centrepoint Mall to get something to eat, and damn places kept pissing me off. Seems that most places there are destined to get under my skin.
Fortunately, after Red got something to eat(after a lady at the place I ordered my food at changed her story about what the order I got came with, I was too pissed off to eat by that point, so I went without for awhile), we went to EB Games, and I came away with a good score.
For 2.99 Canuck-bucks, I got Darkwing Duck by Capcom for the Game Boy. :D Good platforming fun, retrofitted for the small screen. On a related note, I hear Inafune had something to do with the NES Disney games from Capcom? Make sense in a lot of ways...
If I had the know-how, I'd ROM hack Darkwing Duck into a Proto Man game. Press up, and instead of pulling the cape around, you'd pull his shield around to deflect shots.
Also, at a neat place that has... well, odd foreign Asian trinkets, like Gundam model kits and Hello Kitties and Yu-Gi-Oh pencil boxes, we got a little piece for our new place, an Astro Boy clock. Has a yellow border, we'd have preferred red, but...
But the real score came from EB. I finally have Mega Man Xtreme 2! Sadly, it's cart-only. If anyone has either the book or box they'd be willing to part with, it'd make the completist in me VERY happy.
And for 15 Canadian. Funfunfun. As I recall, it was better than Xtreme 1 by far, with new attacks gained and remixed stages, right? Though Flame Mammoth's was exactly the same as the SNES one... oh well. At least it's got some new bosses, neat modes, Scramble Change, enough to keep me busy. And it's one game I haven't been completely spoiled on, ironically.
Visiting the comic shop was good, too. SF2 #0 came out last week, part of Street Fighter Month this month. Good piece, also has a preview of Rival Schools and another Udon comic. Also got: TransFormers #0 from IDW, Sonic X #2 from Archie, and MGS #12 that I somehow missed when it came out, also from IDW. Plus, Toyfare #100!
So a good haul today. Things more or less balanced out.
Oh, and good news/bad news. For 6.75 each, there are still a few of these figures left at the comic shop. Well, not necessarily these... there's six different ones, and they're randomly packed. But pictures in the auction is the one I want, as Hitomi bears a pretty good likeness to Celeste.
Unfortunately, I hate random packed stuff like that. So I'm not sure whether to take my chances and auction/gift the ones I don't want(Wolf would gladly take Ayane, I'm sure), or just keep looking for something more sure, like eBay here, though it'd cost me more for one figure.
Hmm, if I'm not mistaken, these might even be somewhat to scale with the Bandai X model kits...

Date: 2005-10-21 08:38 pm (UTC)Also there was that "Mega Man 5" game that was basically a poor hack of Darking Wing Duck with Rock instead of DW. Good luck playing that game. I had to save state like crazy while playing the NES version. (now I'm tempted to buy the NES game in cardtridge version)
