As
woekitten pointed out, we saw Matrix Reloaded the other day. Might've been a mistake, but I say that purely from a financial perspective.
Anyway, good movie. I'm only left to wonder if we can expect another sequel or two. It's not like there's no room to do them. And Matrix is described as being a trilogy, though recently I've heard Reloaded and Revolutions described as being two halves of the same movie(I believe "second half of the sequel" is the term used in regards to Revolutions), and the way they fit, it certainly makes sense. Whereas The Matrix was a fairly self-contained movie-- they could've conceivably ended it there-- Reloaded and Revolutions, besides the double Rs, seem to have a sort of symbiotic relationship. Neither one is quite as good without the other with it.
And it's not the only instance of late of one movie being broken into two, perhaps to gather more of the al-ighty-ollar. Kill Bill, anyone?
I think, if they are so inclined, we could very well see another Matrix movie(or two, should they splinter it again). If nothing else, I think some of the empty feeling left in Revolutions has created a market for another movie. But then, there's this bit from DVD.IGN.COM...
So what will ultimately happen, only time will tell.
