Dante may be too smart for our own good.

The other day, we found a bag of snacks he managed to consume and hide the remnants of.

And he manages to get his collar off all the time. He seems to have taken a real dislike to them.

They're the safety kind, too. I guess the obvious solution is to get a non-safety kind, but I'm unsure that's a risk we, Red especially, would want to take.

Any suggestions? I really don't want to run the risk of him getting out sometime and getting lost, hurt, etc.

We're also considering that microchip thing they can do now, but don't know how much it is...

Has he been snipped yet? Lord knows I'm reluctant to suggest castration in any situation, but that's supposed to calm male cats down, or something...

Then I got nothin'. My cat got old and fat and just kind of oozed around the house for the past ten years or so.

My friend Taylor swears by putting his cat in a box and rolling it down the stairs, but he's psychotic, so...

Putting the chip in is relatively cheap, I hear. Relatively as in, much cheaper than paying to get your cat out of the pound if Animal Control finds him.

I don't know how cats do it, mine manages to lose his safety collar too, and it drives me mad because he always loses them outside where we can't find them damn things. They're seven bucks each!

My crew is all microchipped - it is pretty inexpensive, and I bet since you guys work where you do, they usually will have a clinic. Twenty five dollars or so for lifetime registration.

I'm all for it with your animals. I actually had a stolen cat tracked down that way, and the person got their cat back after 6 months! Hooray!

Oh! Er... that was me in that last comment, whoops.

Hmm. Have you guys tried a Harmony collar or a Beastie Band? Sometimes those guys aren't as irritating as the regular nylon breakaways. I'd chip him anyway, just to be on the safe side- but perhaps finding one of those collars might help you guys keep one on him. It worked on one of my shop cats that was constantly freaking out about her collar; she'll wear a Harmony one no problem, and it stays on.

Hmm, we aren't sure that they sell that brand here, haven't seen them at PetSmart or Pet Value(Canadian chain, that).
