Hot on the heels of the other official page, comes one for Irregular Hunter X, with lots of purdy new screenshots n' stuff.

Looks like the Mavericks got slight makeovers... I think Chill Penguin leans more towards RmRm style now...

Hmm, actually, the pics of the Mavs look oddly angular... and check out Armored Armadillo's handheld shields now...

I submit the links for both to MMN's news thing. I'd post it myself, but I don't want to fight off Norton Antivirus again... if they'd just reupload the damned News thing...

4chan, I think. I forget, I've seen them cropping up around, I don't remember the first place I saw them.

Oh well, I thought it was from RPM or something. 4chan is ok too, I guess. >_>

It's odd. Looking at the larger screenshots there for Rockman Rockman, it looks less like a remake of the original game and more like a new game that uses the characters... I don't quite recognize the images from Ice Man and Fire Man's respective stages.

And Irregular Hunter X is a flatout remake of the original X game? That seems like crap, given the upcoming Megaman X Collection. Though I guess that's likely a US-only release like Megaman Anniversary Collection was...

Actually, CoJ was supposed to have MMXC there as well, too...

Maybe they're shooting for a budget release for the game, to try and hook newer gamers? Or maybe Capcom will put a few new things in there.

See, this sucks. Unbelievably. Because for over 12 years, all of my system purchases have been mostly about where all the Megaman games are going, specifically the X series.

SNES- Megaman X-X3
PSX- Bought solely for X4
PS2- Bought solely for X7 (At the time I didn't know it sucked, but that's what I REALLY got a PS2 for)

And now I have to get a PSP because the DS is missing out on all the Classic and X games, just like I predicted. I don't WANT to get a PSP, but my ties to the X series make me. Better start looking for one of those barebones PSP packs, because I'll be damned if I have to pay $250 for a handheld system.

Tell me about it... like I said, if the PS3 could handle PS2 and PSP games as well, I'd be all fucking set.

Except for the rumors that the PS3 is being pricegauged around $500, so it'd be almost worthless to buy that. $150 for a PS2, $250 for a PSP, it'd be cheaper to buy them separately, really. Honestly, I don't know what Sony is thinking with these ridiculous launch prices. Isn't the whole point to make them cost effective and affordable to make, oh I don't know, a profit? Sure, most companies take losses in their first year because the price of a game game system is usually lower than what it costs to make it, but what's the point of that if the price is so high the average consumer can't afford it? They're just taking even more of a loss.

BUT, a PS2 and PSP can't play PS3 games as well. With my luck, there's just bound to be a handfull of games over the system's entire run I'll have to play. Probably some new X game or Contra or something. :P

So with that in account, it's 300(Canadian, mind) for a PSP, about 180 for a slimmed PS2, for a total of 480 Canadian. God knows what PS3 would be, but if it played the other two, it'd probably balance out to about the equivalent of another decently priced system at best.

Looks good to me. But eh, I already had a PSP, so it's less of a stretch for me. I don't really see what you said about Chill, but eh.

Just so you know, re-uploading the news module won't do shit.

Get with it, and get Firefox. Or Opera. Or any browser other than IE.

It's rare that I get adventurous. I guess I could do that, though I usually prefer IE saving my login information that I'm prone to forget...

Not a risk thing, I don't know how. IE just does it.

Seems like there was another reason I disliked using it, but since it's been so long, I can't remember. Guess I can try it til I remember...

So, are you the one who inserted that obnoxious "DO USE IE" header if you open MMN from Internet Explorer? Y'know, the road works two ways. This is no better than IE-centric sites not letting Mozilla-based browsers in. Please refrain from stooping to their level.

Date: 2005-09-10 03:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kanuckles.livejournal.com
It's in no way stooping to their level, as you can still browse the site perfectly fine with IE. It's just a warning stating that "Hey, you're using a fucked up browser. Consider switching?".

I'd rather not clog an LJ post with crap about Web Design, but whatever.

Why in the world should anyone punish their userbase by subjecting them to a banner and telling them what to do? What purpose does it honestly serve? You could just as easily stick a little "Get Firefox" button on the MMN navigation bar and leave it at that.

You might ask what the difference is. A button is just a suggestion, no different than adding the "This page looks best in Browser X" tag to the bottom of a page. What MMN has is a system that deliberately targets IE users.

I hate IE as much as the next sensible web design guy, but it's not a web site's place to chastise them for using it.

From: [identity profile] kanuckles.livejournal.com
It's not punishing them at all, though. A Button might not get noticed, whereas that apparently does.

"What MMN has is a system that deliberately targets IE users."

...That's kinda the area that I was aiming for, yes, since they're the ones using the shitty browser.

That'd be nice. I hate discrimination of that sort. In either direction.

I still oppose MMN trying to exclude people who use IE. That's users' choice, not ours.

And besides which, re-uploading content has helped out when I've done it for my stuff on Mechadrake, on the same server I've heard, so it ought to work.

The subsites of MMN(MMXO and such) could use it, too.

Has anybody read what I've stated? We're not trying to exclude them, however, it's a shitty browser, and you really should change.

Seriously, if you're getting virus warnings in ONE browser and not another, what exactly is going to register in your head? :P
