Aug. 30th, 2005 09:07 amSorry if I'm being a bit chatty.
But at work, I found an item in my section that gave me pause.
For dogs, we evidently sell these bags which contain a pair of tennis balls that taste like peanut butter, to freshen your dog's breath.
Now, besides the fact that I can't recall ever smelling peanut butter on a person's breath, much less a dog's, and thinking "Mm, that smells pretty good," I couldn't help but wonder...
WHO CAME UP WITH THIS?!
And WHO WOULD BUY IT?
I swear to God and everything that is holy, the only reason I'd consider it is so that I could tell people that "my dog's balls taste/smell like peanut butter," and see the reaction I'd get.
"Here, see for yourself!"
Seriously, that's the best use I can think of for this stuff.

*laughing* I shall never be able to look at those toys on my store wall again without thinking of this. XD
I sell a lot of them, too. They come in vanilla and spearmint too. ;)

Date: 2005-08-30 06:12 pm (UTC)I've also heard that the two most recognizable smells, in America anyway, is peanut butter and coffee. But I don't think that accounts for smelling it on someone's breath...

Date: 2005-08-30 10:44 pm (UTC)Is it cheese? Nope.
HAM and cheese? Nuh-uh?
Bacon, peanut, or BBQ? Guess again.
For some reason, we have an absolute ton of...
Carrot.
I've NEVER heard of dogs liking or eating carrots. Rabbits, perhaps, but dogs?
Apparently, no one else has, either, and that's why we have an absolute fuckton of these things to sell marked down that no one wants.

Date: 2005-08-30 11:51 pm (UTC)What I really don't get are the exceptionally fancy pet itinerary of which which your dog or cat or goldfish couldn't possibly cognate or respect the value. Like those bottle-dispensing water dishes which are fashioned after water coolers, and the hold extra water and filter it and what not. It's absolutely ridiculous, although I can't say I'm above it much; just recently we spent over $20 on two collars.

Date: 2005-08-31 01:13 am (UTC)Plus, for those dogs with allergies, well, most dogs aren't allergic to carrots.
Riley picks baby carrots over his dog food. Now, er... not sure what it is, maybe I'm not feeding him exactly what he wants, but he's a picky kid. Then again, he eats cat poop at times, so I guess that's not a good judge of carrots. ;)
