Aug. 10th, 2005 08:11 amI've proclaimed my admiration for one of the Galaxy Force TransFormers, Exillion, aka Cybertron Hot Shot before.
But what I got to see earlier goes beyond cool.
Recently, starting with Robots In Disguise, the trend would be that characters would see "powered up" forms through each line's run.
Normally, this merely entails a change in color to show they've "powered up," such as Armada's Optimus Prime to Powerlinx Optimus Prime.
Not bad, sometimes it offers a nice choice between two colors for the same basic mold. For instance, I preferred the Powerlinx versions of Optimus and Hot Shot in Armada to their original forms.
But storywise, it's a bit lacking.
Anyway, hope this isn't a spoiler for anyone, I sort of stumbled by it in Walky's journal by accident, but it seems Cybertron Hot Shot and others are getting upgrades as well... and I don't mean in the paintjob department.
Exigeyser takes Exillion to a new level of badass. I cannot wait for this badboy to come out. This is more like back in the days of G1 Megatron to Galvatron, or Hot Rod to Rodimus. REAL changes.
And bring 'em on, I say.
Unfortunately, one of the original namesakes behind such upgrades, Megatron, only gets a recolor this time out to become Galvatron, just like the past three times. Here's hoping Prime gets something good, though...

Date: 2005-08-10 02:02 pm (UTC)I think as far as Prime goes though, he'll more than likely just see more sets of add-on parts. Here's hoping a second arm mold finally comes out though, since both leaders have two link sockets and as of yet, the 'arms' consist of Ligerjack... and Dark Ligerjack.
Laaaazy. Also, apparently there's Landbullet/Crumplezone's upgrade into Armbullet, which despite the name, seems more like a remold than a limb.
