Rhetorical question
Jul. 27th, 2005 09:06 amSo a coworker and I were discussing Chasing Amy earlier, and the part where the black comic book artist(I forget the name) was ripping into Star Wars, turning it into a black vs. white thing.
Anyway, that lead to the question: if African-American folk can call each other n----s(not a term I'm comfortable using with the exception of the Something Awful/4chan/YTMND gag), then can Caucasians call each other "cracker," or better yet, "cracka?" Seems it should be alright in the same sense as the other.
Joking around a bit in a sort of way playing on how some of the African-American persuasian use theirs, it was sort of amusing. Makes me wonder if it could or would ever catch on...

Date: 2005-07-27 08:40 pm (UTC)Anyway, BD, I'm the kind of guy who doesn't care for all race warriors (meaning I dislike David Duke and Jesse Jackson) but I'm annoyed by the way people operate sometimes.
I once was talking about the Ku Klux Klan's history in history class and quoted one of their speeches as an example of how it was founded or something. The quote had the word Nigger in it. I'm not the type of guy who says, "IknowitmightoffendsomeonesoI'mgoingtochangethisquotearound" and I said it. Everyone went apeshit and I said, "The quote was 'nigger'. I said the quote. This is history class, get a fucking grip!"
Everyone's too god damned sensitive if you ask me.

Date: 2005-07-27 10:32 pm (UTC)"Cracker" came from a TV show? I did not know this. I thought it was just something that was used for "balance," at least after hearing Chris Rock use it side-by-side with the other word...
