FUCK Battle Network 4.

Despite the complaints from others, despite the awkward translation in spots, I actually had more fun with this BN game than I have since I first picked up the original.

And now I'm at the end, and it's like everything has gone unbalanced.

I see why people use emulators, too. Going through the end sequence to get to the boss repeatedly gets tiresome, FAST. If I weren't so far in, I'd probably go that route. Shame there's no way to convert my data...

I was seriously looking forward to BN5 on the DS, but I'm starting to have second thoughts...

Some advice was given to throw in some Invis chips and GunDelSol his ass til he begs for mercy, and to use Program Advances, but all of a sudden, the chips aren't falling in my favor anymore. And it's quite annoying.

Talk about unbalanced, though. I really should have taken more care to pick up more HP Memory on the way. I'd go back, but going through the pages leading up to the end doesn't really entice me any more than my other options. I'm at 460 now, which makes one part easy enough, but the other trickier. And that was quite sufficient for the rest of the game, too.

Pity, I was actually looking forward to the replaythroughs, but not so much now...

I'm sure I'll get through this, but man is it frustrating. It's like being painted into a corner almost.

Such a fun game. First time I've gone all the way through a BN game without using Gameshark codes and such, too. But the random nature of this game is really killing it for me here.

Getting my Soul Unisons and Dark Chips denied hasn't helped my demeanor here much as well. I wouldn't want to USE a Dark Chip, but the option might've been nice...

BN4's tournaments were a pain in the rear to me, and really boring to boot. The ending wasn't even worth all that effort. BN5 on the other hand, is as fun as fried chocolate on a stick with a sugar coating. <3 zomg how I love it.

Eh, I'll be sure to try BN5, but reluctantly. Not sure whether to emulate or not.

But BN4's tournaments were more fun than I thought they'd be.

I still need to play BN2 and 3. I don't even own either version of BN4 yet, and now BN5 is being released in three versions. Being one of the freaks who picked up both the PS2 and Gamecube versions of Anniversary Collection (and will pick up the Xbox version when I get that system), you know I'm going to get all three...

I'm so far behind the Megaman games again that it's almost laughable.

I'm not as far behind as I once was, but yeah, I aim to own them all, too... someday.

...you can get through BEFORE him?

I'd say the former. I easily dealt with the boss before the final area with 460 life points, but after that, all bets are off. Sometimes I can hold my own well, other times I get slaughtered.

I got help from [livejournal.com profile] thenekomancer to rearrange my NaviCustomizer and Chip Folder, so that may help. Now I'm pushing about 960 HP.

And like I've said before, this is the first time I've ever actually gotten to the end of a BN game without using GameShark codes and such; the first time I've gone through without an emulator. I can't say that for any BN before it, just to give you some idea here.

Heh, whups. Thought I deleted my post quicker than that. *ahem* (Basically I just complained about the difficulty of getting the right chips and asked how exactly Nyte meant "unbalanced")

...And that's kinda my problem with the previous games. It's just not fun to build a folder that works perfectly for your current area, only to have to completely reinvent the whole thing because the new enemies have twice as many hit points. It'd be less of a problem if they provided new chips in a more abundant manner.

...I'm actually stunned that you didn't get slaughted with that little HP o_o. In BN2 I found myself cursing a bad draw and dying from something like 780.. and in BN3 at the start of the game 240hp often seemed to be too little @_@

I really found it less of a problem in BN4... I'd only occassionally add a new chip to my folder, often a newer version of an older one, or just something I thought would work better(such as the time I decided that the +10's weren't worth as much later in the game to take up a whole slot).

As for getting slaughtered, well, I did link up to MMZ3 and I did use some lotto numbers, so that helped a bit(though not TOO much, I'd say).

EXE 5 > EXE 4
I am not too happy with EXE 4 or EXE 3, both were not as great as the first two. (that or the fact getting higher brow navi chips was always bitchingly hard...) EXE 5 however is swell. I love having the opportunity of using different navis (if only they'd let me play them out of liberation battles without using a chip gate....).
I only started the game, but so far the game is EXE 1 or EXE 2 good to me.

Hmm, hope I still enjoy it. On the surface, it sounds great, but like I've said, I actually enjoyed playing through BN4 more than the others... it just feels more balanced to me. EXE 1 and 2 I wound up having to use cheats on.

Cheating in EXE 1 and 2? I actually played better in those two than the later games, then I got lazy, hell in EXE 4, I never went to the undernet or got SP chips...

I'm not a completist in that sense, I don't want or need every chip or every boss battle, I mostly follow the scenarios...
