Well, it's nice to see they're getting so proactive toward strengthening their industry, but I feel that there's more to it than just what they talked about. Their are stark exceptions to the points all of them brought up; Bejeweled 2 is one of the most popular games on MSN, and I spent an hour yesterday playing a single game of it. The 'countless reiterations' of Mega Man games are helping to pump money back into Capcom. Kirby's Magic Mirror is nothing new if you don't take advantage of the multiplayer feature, but I still think it's great.
Personally I think one of the main issues is that in the Japanese social climate people just can't afford to spend the hours a day of laying videogames that people can do in America.
