I think those might've been rumors...

I very strongly suspect based on what has been said that the Nintendo DS will be a possible controller type. It already has all the components to function as a true Plug-and-play (without the plug) controller containing all necessary information about the person plugging into the system. (When you first start a new Nintendo DS, it asks for a myriad of personal information and preferences.)

Just something else to think about. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see cross-platform games being released that takes advantage of both systems.

After being less than impressed by the look of the XBox 360 and only moderately impressed with the look of the PS3, I'm really digging the Revolution's visual style. Now if Nintendo manages to impress me with some titles lined up, or whatever the hell their big flarking surprise is, then I'll be sold. So far neither Sony nor Microsoft has floored me, and I'm used to at least one system making me think "gotta get me some of that" right from the beginning.

Help me Miyamato, you're my only hope.

Will it be able to play Gamecube games, or are they going for a whole new format? I mean, we can play mini-CD's in our computers, right?

Yeah, it's backwards compatible. Just slot the Gamecube disc right in, it'll play it.

Not only that, but there's going to be an online service wherein you can download games from the NES, SNES, and N64 and play them on this system. This isn't a rumor, this is a confirmed-by-Nintendo fact. (Check the paragraph under the heading "The Secret Weapon")

It'll do both. With a possibility of downloading others.

I liked the waffle iron, proto-type....

That wasn't a prototype. That was a fan-made mockup. Not anything Nintendo did.
