Mar. 18th, 2005 07:14 amOk, I need help getting Internet Explorer to work right. Not sure what's going on here.
And first, do NOT tell me "switch your browser." I use IE for the regular day-to-day stuff, and I like the layout better than the other browsers. I use Firefox when I'm feeling "adventurous," but I generally don't like the interface.
So if you can't help in any way besides that, please keep it to yourself.
Anyway, this started yesterday or the day before, where I'd often wind up getting something like "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error" when I'd try to visit pages. Doesn't seem to happen on the other browsers. Only seemed to start after they started upgrading something or other around the area here, and our internet was down for a short time. It occurs really on and off.
And just now, it's begun to not hold my addresses typed into the drop-down address bar. Frankly, this is all getting just a bit annoying, and hopefully someone recognizes this so I can fix it somehow.

Date: 2005-03-18 10:40 pm (UTC)It's a set of things to make Firefox's interface mimic MSIE's. So you'd have the 'best' of both worlds.

Date: 2005-03-19 08:06 am (UTC)500-Internal Server Error is an error that is being SENT to your browser by the webserver. Just like 404-File not found and 403-Forbidden.
If you can do the exact same things in another browser at the exact same time and not get the same error, then I would speculate your browser is sending a mal-formed request of some sort that the server can't handle, thus causing the error.
So, what to do about it? Well, gimmie the basics, first... OS, IE version, any service packs, etc. I'll probably have you repair IE again. I've had you do that before for various things.
