Know what I find far stranger than the fact that you can order a pizza(yum) by typing /pizza in Everquest now?

The fact that it seems so damned many people find it fucking NEWSWORTHY, like it's a gawddamned revolution.

I think people find it newsworthy because A) It's the first time anything like this has been included in a game, as far as I know; and B) Sony is probably getting some pretty nice kickbacks from Pizza Hut (which is where the /pizza will be delivered from).

My Journalism schoolbook defines 'newsworthy' as anything unusual. *shrugs*

I dunno, food ordering has been available online for years, this just seems like such a smaller step...

I agree with the above two posers. Though, as someone who was addicted to EQ, I think it's sort of ridiculous.
If you have enough time between spawns to /pizza and type out your choice of toppings and nearest location, you can probably manage to find a phone.

It scares me that there are probably people who have /pizza hotkeyed, too.

I suppose it could be more for those who only have one phone-line and don't want to logoff to get some takeout, but really, what dial-up users go that far in MMO's. ;P
*ducks bricks*

..Posters*, not posers. Not a Freudian slip, just a typo. Honest.

I type and talk on the phone or eat while on the computer all the time.

Wait... a real-life pizza, or a virtual pizza? I guess it's a real pizza you're talking about here, but at first I thought they had included a pizza item in the game and a delivery boy would walk up to your character and deliver you an HP-restoring pizza.

As if there weren't enough cases of death allegedly caused by this game... On the one hand, it's feeding a fire, considering your stereotypical EQ player, but on the other, it's a smart business move that caters unbelievably well to your target audience.
