lbd_nytetraynGood news for us. Red and I finally have a Dragon Ball dub up here. Yes, you read that right... a Dragon Ball dub. As in, "not FUNimation's." Seems the original music and opening are intact, save for the opening theme. Closing must be different, though. First ep and we're seeing the likes of Krillin, Tien, Jackie Chun, and others. And censorship so far seems blissfully minimal, so that's cool. They gave Goku a sumo thong, but Bulma still peed her pants from her encounter with the dino.
Voices are... odd. Not in a bad way, more like another "just get used to them" way.
We get GT sooner or later, too. One YTV source says October 5th. Their site says September 5th. Guess we'll see. I'm somehow betting it's another non-FUNi dub, but that may not be bad...
See, I WANTED the FUNi dub of DB. They actually didn't botch it for once, using the Japanese music, even closing theme(and I think scenes, if I'm not mistaken). Of course, can't speak for the opening, given the nature of Toonami, but...
Then we're back to GT. I've not seen any of it, but from what info I have, I can safely say that it is their worst dub since early DBZ. And I had such high hopes, too, after their splendid job with DB and later DBZ. They changed the music(why? Did they learn nothing? Was DB a fluke?), the opening theme(now it's the "GT Rap", basically), and worst of all, they skip the entire first story arc, covering it in some sort of clip show as I understand it. If that. I think it might not have even had that much, but I'm unsure.
Be ironic in a bitter sort of way if we did get the FUNi dub of GT. At least the voices will be good and familiar to me...
"Knights of the Zodiac" is another. Unless I misread, the copyright date is... 1986? What the fuck? Not a complaint, but that's just kind of... damn. What lead to THAT happening?
New Justice League. With Darkseid. Great ep, between Superman not taking two seconds before seeing Darkseid show up before he started going off on him. And Batman had a few great bits, too.

Teen Titans. For some reason, I just didn't care. I should, but I don't. That they don't have an origin ep(or that they weren't showing it) kinda gets to me like that... this isn't Batman we're talking about, and even Superman had an origin ep.
FINALLY getting Mainframe's Spider-man. The animation is a little jarring at first, but nice. I like it, so far. I believe Brian Michael Bendis, writer of Ultimate Spider-man(a fave book of mine before I had to put a pause on collecting) helps on the show, too, so that helps.
Saw the Power Rangers Ninja Storm ep I taped yesterday, "All About Beevil." Poor Dustin. He and Cam are like my favorites of this batch of Rangers, btw. And the gold Ninja Sword power-ups are neat. I wonder if Marah will come around for real down the line... funny seeing her imagine herself in a pink Ninja Ranger costume.
In other news, found Knuckles' scuba-necklace in SA2B. That should make the final level alot easier...

This is definitely one of my favorite PR seasons ever. If the rest after are like this, I might be able to put up with the fact they seem to be out of traditional Ranger continuity...
