Namco seems to be presenting this racer during said event. We're going to have to wait till this weekend to get confirmation."
Could this be the next Triforce game? I can't really believe they would say it's a rumor whent heres a picture of it right there. Either that, or it's a hell of a well done fake.
I really hope this is coming out on 'Cube. That Double Dash crap just didn't do it for me. Also. I believe I see Pac-Man driving that kart there. What more awesomeness could there possibly be?
UPDATE: The arcade machine takes your picture and "morphs" it with the mugshot of the character that you are using, for instance if you were Mario you'd look like a fat guy with a red M cap. That's what those crazy looking little pictures are above the karts. Not really a big play mechanic, but hey, neat. Also, if you hadn't noticed, the Ghost weapon is back. Woo! And Pac-Man is most definately playable. I mean, look at him, he's right there.
UPDATE: Mario Kart Arcade Grand Prix promises some added bonuses above previous home Mario Kart games. In addition to 24 courses set in 6 different worlds, you can count on some new playable characters, including Pacman. Namco will also be making use of what it calls the "Nam Cam," a camera placed above the monitor which allows players to place themselves in the game. Finally, continuing a growing arcade trend, the game will make use of rewritable cards for saving play data.
"A Japanese arcade release is set for Fall. -- IGN"
As one person put it...
"Here were my nuts before:
OO
Here they are now:
..
THANKS."

Speculation is running that this may run on the Triforce arcade hardware, a joint venture between Nintendo, Namco, and Sega. But we've only seen Namco and Nintendo on this, which means Sega isn't seen yet...
Some are arguing about the idea of Sonic in a game like this, that he wouldn't need a kart. I refer them to this hilarious series of strips dealing with a very similar issue involving Quick Man and the Battle & Chase tournament.
