Jan. 31st, 2005 11:55 amThis is not a bitch, a complaint, or anything of the sort. Just a sort of observation. Were it any of the former, I'd take it up with HeatMan or Lord Phoenix personally, and I think they know I would. But something just feels weird about this. But
woekitten pointed it out to me earlier, and I just sort of scratch my head at it.
ShoPro and VIZ To Merge
Posted by LBD_Nytetrayn on 01-25-2005 19:52
Earlier today, VIZ, LLC issued a press release stating that their company is going to merge with ShoPro Entertainment to form an as-yet unnamed new company.
The new company, tentatively titled "NEWCO," will be based out of San Francisco and aims to take full advantage of the mighty manga(and anime) muscle of its collaborators in Shueisha Inc., Shogakukan Inc. and Shogakukan Production Co., Ltd. (“ShoPro Japan”).
Collaborations between the two companies in the past have included such popular yet controversial hits such as the trimmed-down Inuyasha and the similarly trimmed and oft-renamed MegaMan NT Warrior. Together, they hope to be able to combine their talents and resources to take greater advantage of the wealth of properties originating in Japan, as well as to reach a wider audience in the US.

A merger of "Mega" proportions?
General News - 12:37 am - Josuke [ 2 comments ]
Viz and Shopro, giants of the anime industry are merging. As it is widely known, Shopro is the company who makes the 3 Rockman.EXE anime and also localizes them in western hemisphere. What could this mean for our version of the anime "Mega Man NT Warrior"? Could we possibly see subbed DVDs now that these companies are merging together?

The Mega Man Network:
On This Channel, You Can... Axess!...19

Word has just come from the good folks at our affiliate Rockman.EXE Online that the 19th episode of Rockman.EXE Axess, "Search Soul!" is now available subbed courtesy of #WolfPackProductions, as well as on their mIRC channel on zirc.org.
And in case that's not good for you, it is also available via the Rockman.EXE Online mIRC channel, #RockmanEXEOnline on the same server.

On this Channel you can lee-... Axess!
General News - 06:50 pm - Splashman [ 0 comments ]
Just one small, quick newspost before the fellow Swiss-Army is taking me "hostage" for the next three weeks:
Fansub Group WolfPack Productions has released Rockman.EXE Axess Episode #19 - "Search Soul", which is very pleasing news, seeing that they had a short downtime during the last few days. So get the episode while it's still hot, from their Channel or Torrent-Site!
And Splashman's taking off...
Now, no accusations are being leveled here(except maybe Splashman borrowing off of my headline for Axess). In truth, I got my news from other sources, and it's possible they never even looked at The Mega Man Network for these posts before making their own. I got the Viz/ShoPro merger news from a press release from Viz themselves e-mailed to me, which I posted ASAP, and the other came from just browsing through Rockman.EXE Online as I try to do when I can.
I just think the timing of it seems a bit odd in conjunction with the news, that's all.
But, it's not like there's really much I can say or do about it. I don't want to think that they're avoiding crediting me somehow for some reason(the MMN/PMM "feud," such as it was, is pretty much long dead, after all). It just feels weird.
But, I'm probably overreacting. I'll let people draw their own conclusions, I guess.

Date: 2005-01-31 07:32 pm (UTC)All I cna figure is that the both of them are in circles where that kind of information would come up. It could have origined from MMN, or anywhere, and went through a few intermediaries. But to make the case they intentionally did not credit MMN, no, I don't think that happened. Splashman has even aided MMN in some areas.
But if you like, I can remind them to make sure they credit sources for pieces, though I probably get too specific in the details of it.
