So, tonight was the first time I've watched wrestling in several months, the Royal Rumble, at Boston Pizza. And man, it seems like a LOT has changed in so little time. Things like...

What happened to Bischoff's look? He's like another man. Did they pull a Razor/Diesel, and fire the real one?

Why does the Big Show now look like King Kong Bundy?

Is Angle a face? Is Show? Was there any good guy at all in the Smackdown main event?

Are Edge and Christian working together again?

Have Haas and Benjamin buried the hatchet?

That Muhammed(sp) guy, I read about coming to WWE before I stopped. I thought he was supposed to be a good guy of sorts, a "not all middle easterners are bad" guy. Did that bomb?

Who is that Gene Snitsky guy? He looks like a sibling of Undertaker and Kane. And from the looks of things, he and Kane have history.

Has Evolution gone face? Or just Batista? Never expected him to win.

Wish there was some sort of chronological database of this stuff, not counting news sites(it'd take me forever to find all the recaps amidst the gossip and news).

---

So seeing most of the Rumble was good. Unfortunately, I missed the match I wanted to see most: Edge vs. Shawn Michaels.

Looks like my glorious plan to obtain old games for cheap at BBV has a bit of a flaw. Apparently, if there are no used copies of the product in the store, then you're charged the full retail price for it. What bullshit. Well, unless of course you "lose" the product, THEN you get the used price, it seems.

Still, what rubbish. On the bright side, seems someone, somewhere, messed something up, and I aim to take advantage...

Bischoff had got his hair cut. But since he grew some of it back he went blondie on us. My friend said that how he used to have his hair, WAY back.

Snitsky is the reason why Lita "lost her child". Cause he cracked Kane in the back with a chai while I was trying to get Lita out of th ring and he fell on her or some shit.

I don't know about everyone else though. I'd have to ask these WWE geeks I know in person about that for you. Cause hell its rare these days I catch SmackDown! let alone have cable to scope out Raw.

Several months ago, Angle and his posse shaved his head. This was part of a long-running storyline that had Show chokeslamming Angle from some scafolding.

Is Angle a face? Is Show? Was there any good guy at all in the Smackdown main event?
Angle is a heel. Show's a face.

Are Edge and Christian working together again?
They've tagged once or twice, but in general: No.

Have Haas and Benjamin buried the hatchet?
I didn't know they had a hatchet to bury.

That Muhammed(sp) guy, I read about coming to WWE before I stopped. I thought he was supposed to be a good guy of sorts, a "not all middle easterners are bad" guy. Did that bomb?
He was supposed to be the "misunderstood face," but of course, the writers fell into the usual trap of, "If we have him bash America, he'll draw heat and get over faster," which is unfortunate, because it was actually possible to have some sympathy for him before.

Has Evolution gone face? Or just Batista? Never expected him to win.
Batista is seriously the most "over" guy on Raw right now. He's at the same point as Austin, Rock, and Eddie -- officially, he's a heel, but the fans are forcing the E to turn him face.

...Angle has a posse now? Again?

Show is a face? How's that been working out for him? Guess that explains the next PPV main event.

I thought Haas and Benjamin had some sour grapes just before Benjamin was drafted by Raw?

Too bad on Muhammed, I'd have liked to have seen that. Seeing everyone gang up on him was funny, though, and knowing he's supposed to be an ass makes me feel less guilty for liking that part.

...what the bloody blue fuck? Turn around for three months, and the world goes batshit insane... Batista is the most over guy on Raw? What about Edge? Michaels? Y2J? Benjamin? ORTON?!

...I'm almost scared to go back now... and yet, I feel I must.

Btw, the Rumble kicked ass last night.

Angle's posse includes Luther Reigns (generic big man) and Mark Jindrak, the only member of the old "Natural Born Thrillers" group from WCW who still has a job.

I think there was some miscommunication between Haas and Benjamin in one match, but the parted on good terms.

People are finally tiring of HBK, I think. Edge is starting to get to the main event level, and the E has more or less made sure that Y2J and Benjamin are stuck in Club Midcard and can't get "over" any more than they are.

Orton's character simply does not work as a face. He seriously comes across as a flash in the pan, and the whole "Legend Killer" thing doesn't work as a face when the only heel legend on the show is Flair.

I think people may be tiring of HBK because he's being pushed as a legend past his prime, and yet he's on every card wrestling almost every night. Now if he held back a little and worked only every once and a while (like Flair), that'd be a different story. Plus, it can't help that he leaves and returns every other month. Still, almost everything he does looks good and he's trying to put over the young guys as best he can, so I can appreciate his presence. Call it wishful thinking, but I'm just waiting for Bret Hart to accept a proposal from Vince, so we can see HBK/Hart one last time.

And what they're doing with Orton's character is a step or six in the wrong direction, yes. He's being pushed as edgy when the character works best as classy. When he first became champ, the smug confidence, sharp suits, and showering gold pyro absolutely MADE him. Unfortunately, creative got ahead of themselves, saw that all of that stuff came about from Evolution's influence, and did their best to strip away what they thought worked against him. The result was a bare-bones kid with little experience and a cache of moves so lacking that *I* could be more inventive (you know he's going nowhere when he busts out three back-body drops and four chinlocks in a row). The only thing I like about Orton is that he sells well- REALLY well. I don't think anyone but Foley takes a better pedigree.

Probably what I'm thinking of. Go figure. Parting on good terms? In wrestling?

Damn shame. Still surprised Edge didn't win it.

Too bad Taker is face. Maybe it'd work better on Smackdown, between guys like Angle and Taker who are somewhat legendary...

Believe it or not. Right before the brand draft last year Benjamin and Haas were still a solid team. On the Smackdown before the draft, there was a genius series of domino-like matches just to kill space while hyping the effects of the draft. The first match was Ben vs. Haas, and they worked their asses off. Benjamin won looking like a champ, and the two shook hands. Benji continued on that night, competing in another two matches (the all-night stipulation was if you won, you fight in the next match, too). Nobody knew it at the time, since Ben and Haas were still partners, but that opening match against Haas was a nice send-off from Smackdown.

And now he's Raw's IC champ, and has at least three victories over Triple H. He's done well for himself.

Glad you were able to catch the Rumble. With the exception of the wierd Raw vs. Smackdown ending, that was one of the better Rumbles I can remember. ^_^

Kurt's been trying to become the Triple H of Smackdown (in his own words), so he's really been amping up his heel game. A couple of guys to watch his back? Check. Seeking the championship? Check. Embarassing and pissing off people on a regular basis? Double-check. The rumor mill is talking up a possible Wrestlemania match betwen he and HBK- and if it's credible, it should be good.

Bisch was getting stale, and losing credibility as Evolution's bitch. So they shaved his head (resulting from a hair vs. hair match) and turned him face... partially. He's still Bischoff, after all.

Since Edge and Christian are back on the same show, the E has found a few creative ways to partner them up for old time's sake, but storyline-wise, they're apart for good.

Snitsky showed up out of the blue during the whole Kane/Lita thing and apparently, creative was pleased with his work so they kept him on. It couldn't have been better timing, because Kane was getting some face pops despite all the evil crap they had him do, and Snitsky, somehow, by the sheer oddness of his promos, was able to turn "It's not my fault!" into a menacing catchphrase. The show also needed a big man while Kane left for a few months to film his movie, so creative had Snitsky beat the holy hell out of the big red machine to explain the absence.

Randy Orton was pushed way too hard at the first hint of crowd approval. That one month he was champ was as over as he got, and the crowd's slowly turning on him. It's funny, because while creative was busy boosting Orton, Batista started turning heads. His ringwork is much more refined and his mic skills have vastly improved. The promos he's been doing over the last couple of months have been stellar and for once, creative isn't ruining it. Orton's flopping and Batista is getting Austin/Foley/Rock/Cena pops... Who'da thunk it? :D

I was SO stoked to see them go at it, I hope it happens.

That's cool, I always found EB likeable.

Heh, "it's not my fault?"

Creative dug a hole with the "Lita is having Kane's baby" bit, so they just did what they usually do with pregancy storylines- they killed the unborn fictional kid by "accident." Snitsky, who was supposed to be just a jobber, clobbered Kane with a chair, and Kane inadvertedly fell on Lita. The following week Snitsky was interviewed and he claimed (in a very heated, Snitskyish tone) that "I was only there to do a job, I didn't mean to hurt Lita, I didn't mean to hurt the baby. She had no business in the ring, so it WASN'T.... MY... FAULT!" His delivery of those lines was so out there, so insane, it actually got him over.

Since then he's (smartly) found a way to work it into his promos. "Eric Bischoff put me in this hardcore match, so anything that happens, Kane... It ISN'T.... MY.... FAULT!" It's probably not the reaction the WWE is looking for, but Snitsky just cracks me up. He looks and acts like a Pug on crystal meth. XD
