Mega Meh...
Aug. 20th, 2003 10:08 pmIt's weird. Lately, it feels almost as though my love for the MegaMan games is dwindling... yet, my love for the world and surroundings remain strong. As a result, I feel like I like my own stuff, through RPGs and fanfics and such, better than what Capcom is churning out. I dunno why. I think part of it is my lack of a GB Player and ALL the GBA games to play. Which makes it hard to sustain, really. Almost all the BN games are on GBA, as well as the MMZ games. MegaMan & Bass, too. And I don't have a PS2, so when X7 comes out, it's hard to say what will happen there.
Maybe if Capcom wasn't telling the story of the X series in a scrambled order. Reminds me of cartoons shown in the afternoons in the 80s, when it'd be reruns shown in whatever order. Today, X goes off into battle 3 years after Eurasia crashed, carrying Zero's saber in remembrance. Tomorrow, Zero seals himself up in a capsule for a century. The day after that, Zero helps Axl fight the Red Alert Syndicate.
I know it can be put into sequence, and if you have all the info(which many don't), it does make sense. But I'm getting tired of having to make sense of it. Why can't we just have events happen A-B-C like they should? Oy.
Gotta get the RPG going, too. Kinda sucks, in a way, what's gone on there. Namely, we began our RPG after X5 had come out, but before X6 was announced, and we decided to go with the "three years later" scenario. Then, Capcom goes and kicks us in the balls by rewinding the games' story three years, minus three weeks. And I don't think they've caught up yet.
BN, I'm fairly into on both sides. I hate emulators, though, and without the RPG to have me "research" the game in the only non-spoiler way I know how(i.e. playing it), I haven't played it as much. But I'll likely finish it on emulator, since I'm so far, and buy the real thing for cheap later.
Transmission. Fun game. But I need a certain kind of chip for one part, the little ghost fade-out chip(I forget what it's called, don't care to research it now). Unfortunately, they have this HORRIBLE habit of giving you chips you're already filled to maximum capacity of. Super Metroid, some 8-9 years ago, figured out how to give you what you need, when you need it, if you were to get anything at all. Full of energy? Enemies won't drop energy then. And so on. Why can't Capcom pick up on that? It's what's hindered my enjoyment of Transmission as of late. I've been off playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle instead. I may get killed alot in it, and get angry as a result, but at least in the end I felt the computer did it's part, and I just have to get better. I don't get that from Transmission. Not to say Transmission is a bad game, but it can kind of stop the enjoyment in its tracks...
MegaMan Zero. A real oddity. I like the games alot, but... maybe I don't like the setting as much... It's like, "if you thought X was dark, then let's show you the series with the lights OUT". RPG going isn't bad at all, it just hasn't moved in awhile. Gotta work on that...
Legends is my current fave series, though. It actually makes me a little scared to finish off Legends 2, because I'm sort of worried that I might fall into apathy towards it, as Capcom is taking their sweet time announcing 3. Then again, our RPG is so detached from the events of the Legends games, it probably won't matter. A definite plus.
I'm also looking, once I finish my run of the 21XX RPG, into maybe getting some stuff going for my own sequel series, tentatively called "Beyond 21XX". When I found out about MMZ, I decided I didn't want to resign my characters to whatever fate Capcom chose for them. And so from that, I've built my own story, which I can tell to anyone interested. It's already been told in a small capacity through flashback in the Legends RPG, but I think I've got something good going on...

Date: 2003-08-22 07:53 am (UTC)All in all, you're holding just about all the keys, and I think I'm about done with online RPing anyway. Frankly (And its not exclusively your fault, nor even majoritally(sp)) I feel left out entirely, so I'm going to do things my own way from here on out I think.
I highly recommend finishing a game entirely before trying to GM a RPG based on it BTW, but we've had this arguement before.
I really hope I'm not being argumentative here, I think I'm just about twice as burnt out as you are though. Old wounds run deep with me, I guess.

Date: 2003-08-22 08:54 am (UTC)As far as BN goes... well, I won't touch on that, either. Suffice it to say, though, what we did, we did reluctantly...
Also, I was able to get what I needed out of BN to be able to run my own, even if its not beaten yet. Would be nice to have finished, but it just didn't work out that way due to circumstances, though I agree that finishing it might've helped. I think I tied things up well enough on my own, though, since I was taking more of a departure towards the end, anyway.
On 22XX, I wouldn't mind seeing that come back into play... a night that Wolf isn't on would probably be good, or when Nova isn't, since I don't think he's part of that one yet, anyway...
