Seems I was misinformed about Mega Man X8. I was told you could carry over your acquisitions from one difficulty level to the next, save for boss weapons. Seems what I was told was DEAD FUCKING WRONG. Only thing that carried over were the Metals I'd gotten, and had I known that that's all, plus how expensive some of this new shit is, I'd have spent a lot more time using the Metal Generator to build up my bank account. I won't be making that mistake twice, I can guarantee that.

Now, I just have to remember who gave me the bad info... it'd either be #mmn user MegaManX, Tim, or Reeve. I'm thinking it wasn't Reeve, though.

Fun, stupid thing. Seems whatever capsule you go to first, that's where Light gives you the Neutral Armor to start powering up, along with whatever the capsule had. Turns out, if you go to each capsule as regular X, then you get another full suit of armor. Which means, in a way, I've got "two" Neutral Armors now.

Absolutely useless insofar as the effort goes, but I guess for the weird and twisted, you can imagine X having a full closet of eight Neutral Armors, asking himself "What to wear, what to wear..."

On a seperate note, I want Excillion.

Un. I was more dissappointed in the fact that it's absolutely WORTHLESS to play easy mode. No ending, half the story missing, yay....

So back to getting myself killed in normal mode. XD

They should spell that kinda thing out in the manual... or.. somewhere.

Good thing I was feeling masochistic and decided to jump straight into hard mode when I got the game. :P

Though you gotta admit the game has its elements that are superior to X7, give or take a few things.

Though if it really does bother you that you have to spend more time getting metals, there is a glitch that gives you something like 9,999,999 metals. I know it's cheating, but sometimes in a situation like this, maybe you could care less.

... I'm glad I have the guide so I knew that if I wanted EVERYTHING, I had to be on hard mode.

Anyhow, as for this glitch? Dude, if Beed doesn't wanna know, I DO!!!

I'm sick of having to go threw that damn bike chase stage to get metals.

I too would like to know about this glitch. >_>;

It's pretty understandable. If the metal obtaining weren't so annoying, I probably wouldn't use it, but having to go through a level a thousand times is a little much for my taste. Anyways, I gave the info below.

Who knows? Sort of smacks of cheating, but I guess if it's there, it's there...

'Sides, what's it really prove, other than you have no life and play no other games if you get them the legit way?

That's where I learned about it and it works too. Me and my buddy checked it out. One warning, though, once you activate it and go through a level, turn the volume down unless you love hearing the sound of 9,999,999 something metal obtaining beeps for half an hour.

Straight up, man, the ONLY thing that stayed with me was my Metals.

Now, I just have to find the Rare Metal that lets me get that Metal Generator again... any idea where that one is?

...and that's what I get for replying to Reeve from my mailbox, not knowing the post itself had been deleted.

I posted a comment here about how I was the one that told you that, and honestly a bit confused over your results, but I deleted it because the following speaks for itself and is much more appropriate:

[Reeve] "I was told you could carry over your acquisitions from one difficulty level to the next, save for boss weapons. Seems what I was told was DEAD FUCKING WRONG." <-- I feel for him, but what the hell?
[mmotn] What is that for?
[Reeve] My acquisitions stuck around, everything but boss weapons. I've no idea why his didn't.
[Reeve] X8
[mmotn] Ah.
[{Kevin}] Unless it was beat in easy mode
[Reeve] Aaaahhhh.
[{Kevin}] cause then it doesn't carry over
[Reeve] So it's because he was a pussy.
* Reeve goes to paste that

To be fair, it should be made clear what the penalties to using lower difficulty settings are. Sometimes it's just.. more fun to play something on a lower setting if there aren't any penalties for it.

Of course, in the case of X8, I found it plenty beatable on normal mode, and I doubt the things that really frustrated me scale down meaningfully on easy mode anyway. I'm curious what hard mode will consist of though...

Nonetheless, it absolves me of responsibility for giving him wrong information. After all, how was I to know he was spending days struggling to beat Level Retarded? ;)

(just ribbing you, BD, really)

The only struggle was to even get to play. ;P

And as I've noted before, it's been too long for my liking to have an X game of this quality before me. I'm fucking savoring it from the earliest beginning to the latest end. That includes Easy.

After all, we never know when they might decide to dabble in experimentation again, right? ;) This could just be a fluke...

All the same, I wish I had my Metal Generator... or that I could remember how I got so damn many before I even had it. I think they came from shooting that 'roid in Trilobyte's stage in the ass with the gattling gun so many times, but I'm not positive.
