ASD came along way before X8. And that pose is a pretty common profile technique for anime military stereotypes. I'm sure it wasn't intentional.

Oh, I know ASD came first... we've had it at work for months.

What I find interesting is the change in X's helmet that sees the round "ear" piece stick forward is rather similar to the same thing on the ASD guy's helmet... which wouldn't be much, 'cept X didn't have that until this game.
