Sigh.

As usual, the cycle stage essentially ruins what was an otherwise fun game.

Why?

Do they have something against providing a fully-enjoyable experience?

I mean, it's not like anyone's ever really LIKED a MMX cycle stage, right?

So why keep doing it?

This is one spot where I firmly believe the "regenerate where you died" rule should be applied.

Incidently, I remember X5 and X6 had this neat thing where, if you met certain criteria, you didn't have to go through every stage. X7, dunno, never got to play through it. Does X8 have that feature?

And incidently, GameFAQs is useless on this part...

Just got an "Intermission." Lousy name, really. Sort of like hearing "Character Change." Sort of removes the sense of immersion.

Anyway, it's at Noah's Park again, fighting crab robots, those spiked wheel things, and a big claw.

Just HOW FUCKING LONG do you have to do that for? And if you choose NOT to do it, do you get any other opportunities? Is there any real benefit to doing it, besides a nice little fuckload of Metals? Inquiring minds want to know.

FYI, I rather liked Jet Stingray's stage in X4. Just be glad you only have to do Gigabolt Man-O-War's stage once, as there are no items to be obtained in it. (You have to do Avelanch Yeti's twice in order to get both items in his stage, however, since Zero's required for both, but one can only be obtained by X, and the other requires Axl's hover to get.)

As for the Intermissions, they're only there for fun. You get nothing from them other than the metals you obtain, and there's really no end to them. (With the exception of the one in Central White.) And you can do them at any time you want, repeatedly. So really they're nothing to really concern yourself about.

Oh yes, and you HAVE to beat all the stages in order to access the fortress areas in both X7 and X8.

....lovely. Man-o-war's is the one I prefer out of the two.

Again, why do Capcom sabotage their work like this?

I'd say your crazy for liking Man-O-War's broken POS excuse for a stage over Yeti's, but then again, neither were that good. Opinions are opinions I suppose.

Man-O-War's had slowdown, but all you had to do was ride his ass. No cliffs to fall down, and it steered you around the walls and such, save for the signs that you could just shoot anyway.

It's less preference as it is "lesser of two evils" to me.

Too bad the aerial one doesn't use the other's shots...

Hmm, so how do the intermissions end? When you die?

I liked Jet Stingray's cycling, also. Wouldn't have minded it be a one-time, one-game thing though.

I have never minded the MMX ones so much as MM8's at Wily's hangout. That is just proof of a sick bastard at work.

Jet Stingray's was pretty tame(and short) by comparison. Squid Adler's made me master MM8's, though, inadvertantly. After X5, the next time I played MM8, it was no problem for me.

The only cycle stage I liked was OverDrive Ostrich's. The ability to go through the area on foot helped. I don't get why they make this stuff mandatory to clear an area. At least it made some sense with Jet Stingray....

Squid Adler's was not a stage though. It was torture.
