I might do it anyway... my avatars are set to sort of be "Happy"(used to be a front view of 20th Optimus), "Angry/Annoyed"(Represented by my Red Eyes Black Dragon), and in-between("Red Eyes Optimus Prime" as I call it, aka Powerlinx Optimus from Armada's comic). Usually, I just go with in-the-middle.
As for IRA's stuff(is Iván his real name..?), I think it's still being developed...
Optimus Prime IS quite the coolness, especially from the good ol' 80's, but I'm not exactly into Mechas... but of course, it's all about tastes and opinions, so whatever you decide to use will do just fine.
People probably know you better with the Optimus Prime avatar after all, but Axl's a nice little addition too, especially with the back shades. Haven't seen Axl suddenly look so cool, IRA-style. That's pretty wicked! :D
