lbd_nytetrayn: Star Force Dragonzord Power! (Default)

So, I've been keeping everyone abreast of what I've been doing on Examiner and The Mega Man Network here, but I have not mentioned everything I've been doing as of late.

I believe the biggest one and the one I may be most proud of which I can mention currently is that, as some of you have guessed, is that I am now doing some writing for Nintendo Power magazine. I have a little something in the August issue, seen at right and on newsstands now.

Did I write about Star Fox 64 3D? The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword? The Super NES 20th anniversary feature? No, no, and sadly, no. I have actually started off fairly small, with reviews of Game Boy titles for the Nintendo 3DS eShop (pages 29 and 30, of course). Still, I hope to build to bigger and better things in the magazine from there.

Plus, Heat Man got a letter into the mailbag section! ...only it wound up being just a little too late.

In addition, you can also find my reviews of iPhone games over at Slide to Play, where Nadia has already been doing them for a while.

And finally, Heat Man and I united once more to lend our thoughts on Capcom and the whole Mega Man Legends 3 issue to The Joystiq Show. I meant to include this in last night's update, but it slipped my mind.

I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but unfortunately, it sounds as though our segment was cut short. Fortunately, we've been told that the cut material should make it into a written feature on the site in a few weeks.

Oh, and I still have Otakon reports and other stuff to do soon, so I'll have more on that soon.

Wow, you got your writing in Nintendo Power? And Heat's got a letter in it? I may just pick this issue up. :p
(I stopped subscribing to NP years ago, just due to the fact I hadn't had much need for gaming magazines anymore...)

And you guys were on the Joystiq Show, huh... well, I normally don't listen to podcasts of any sort, but I guess I'll give this one a listen.

Oh, so that's what the whole thing was about. I thought maybe the Canadian print of NP was different or something, 'cause I didn't notice what you were talking about on those pages.

And you gave Alleyway a "Hmmm"? Absolutely shameless.

Alleyway is $3 on the eShop, and Breakout games are a dime a dozen, many of them being free online, which I thought made the value questionable. But there are still the factors of possible nostalgia, the Mario elements, things like that, which I figured warranted some consideration for the title.

It's still one of the best. If $3 seems like too much it's because all the GB games are overpriced. I know people who today still consider Alleyway one of the best GB games of all time.
