Bookmark Bewilderment

Hmm, it appears that Firefox changed how their bookmarks are stored at some point prior to or upon reaching version 3.6.17.

I think I figured out the file I need to save to preserve it. I wish there was some sort of easy export or something, but I don't see anything of the sort. But what I have is one of many, with an extension of ".json" that I can't seem to get the computer to actually read, unlike the old one, which was somehow stored as simple HTML.

If I want to back up my bookmarks (I was sure I did before the last computer went down, but I was clearly mistaken), does anyone know what I need to do/where to go now? The "Bookmarks" file which looks like the one I had before... well, it appears to actually be the one I had before, and hasn't been updated since 2009, even though I've added quite a few.

Nothing is ever simple, is it?

go to show bookmarks, hit the star shaped button, and then either select backup bookmarks, or "Export to HTML" if thats more your fancy.

Alternatively you could choose to store your bookmarks through some kind of cloud storage. Thats popular these days.

After hearing about one of those storage things shutting down... well, I'd consider it as a back-up, at most. I'm still puzzled as to what happened to my last copy of my bookmarks... I'm sure I made one on my external drive, but I can't find it anywhere.

Anyway, I see nothing labeled "Show Bookmarks." Do you mean in the browser? That's where I'm looking.

I tried the book icon with the star on it, and the "Bookmarks" thing at the top (with File, Edit, View, History, etc.), but I don't see anything like what you describe. I tried looking earlier as well, but to no avail.

in the bookmarks thing at the top is where the Show Bookmarks is. In the old Firefox it was called Manage Bookmarks which was a much better name for it.

"Organize Bookmarks" seems to be what I have, and it correlates with the Ctrl + Shift + B thing he said on Twitter. And that seems to have worked.
