Mission Aborted
Dec. 10th, 2004 11:13 amBlech. What a lousy night.
First, I've got this chapped, blistered upper lip that's bleeding now and again. Now that I've been paid, I aim to get some Chap Stick. Anyone know if there's anything else I should get for this thing, while I'm at it?
Second, I go to play Command Mission to find out that, best as I can tell, Red didn't put the controller away properly, Dante climbed up on the dresser knocking it around in the process, allowing the rats to get ahold of the cord and chew right through the damned thing.
So yeah, my Cube controller is now DOA. And I don't mean the good, bouncy kind of DOA, either. So whereas there were just two things really to do around here before, either work on the computer or play GameCube, there's now one.
And what REALLY gets me is that this came just after they got ahold of another cord from the GameCube just a day prior and chewed right through that. Fortunately, it was one we didn't really need/use anymore, but really, it should have stopped right there.
So now we have to replace the fucking controller, and the damn things aren't that cheap, not around here, at any rate. Yeah, I have a Blockbuster discount, but it's not for that much. Yeah, we're doing better money-wise now, but not to a point I think we can just start getting careless with our stuff and replace it after.
Have to work today, too, 2-10. I suspect that when I go in, I'll have to take care of the 1 o'clock drop box duties, which are going to no doubt include the 10am drop box duties that probably weren't taken care of. Whatever. Keeps me busy.
Makes me wonder what that says about you and your job when you really don't give much of a damn about what you do, so long as it makes the time between punching in and punching out go by faster.
At least I'm in the games section tonight. Someone told me that was the bottom of the barrel, but that's fine by me. You don't hear about long falls or nosebleeds from the ground floor.
Not that I lack ambition. Quite the opposite, in fact. I just don't aim to be at Blockbuster for long enough that it's really required. It's to pay the bills and help get me my movie/game fix. Which reminds me, I really ought to hook the VCR/DVD player up. Maybe find that damned cable TV splitter...
...but then, how to keep the cat and the rats from conspiring to destroy it all...
