Why the Nintendo DS will win, an interesting editorial from DSAdvanced.com

Personally, I'd love to see Sony get knocked out of the running, as the only thing theirs I really like are their controllers, and the design is just a suped-up version of the Super NES's controllers, anyway.

I can't say it's the most unbiased article I've ever read, but he does raise some very good points. And yes, the Sony will have to fight quite an uphill battle to even make a close second with the DS.

I mean heck, just look at their game lists. The most interesting thing Sony has to offer is MGS mixed with YGO. DS, meanwhile, contains Wario Ware, Advance Wars, Mario 64, Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and a new platformer starring Princess Peach. And that's just the first-party stuff, not even considering that developers seem intruiged by the DS's new capabilities and direction.

Sony's a bit cocky about their PSP, and I think that, more than anything, will hurt them.

Not bad, not bad at all. Some of the points have been mentioned for some time now, but mainstream videogaming news continues to tout the PSP as the next big thing. 'Course, it would be nice if this article was written by someone who didn't work for a page called DS Advanced. Like Steve said, it is a bit biased; the writer seems to take a little satisfaction in depcting Sony's great fall. I lot of strong PSP advocates are sure to hold up their shields of cognitive dissonance and say it's trash. Then again, if the tables were turned and this were all about the PSP, I'm sure a good number of Nintendo fans would act the same way.

And yes, not to mention, games that appeal more to me are coming to the PSP in droves. Although the DS starting lineup doesn't impress me too much, I still look forward to the new SMB, Super Princess Peach, Mario Kard DS, Kirby Magic Paintbrush, and that BN game down the road. Furthermore, and this also should have been mentioned in the article, with Nintendo announcing the DS wont have regional blocks, I don't have to feel bad about importing either.

Really? What are you looking forward to so much on PSP? I didn't think they had much a lineup yet...

*shrugs* I have no idea what their lineup is, aside from, I'm guessing, some popular sports games. But, considering I doubt I'll be buying a PSP until that dark day Capcom makes a Rockman game for it, their lineup doesn't concern me at all.

Now you're just confusing me.

...and any word on if PSP will have regional blocks?

Not that I've heard, but considering it's Sony, and they're using discs, I wont be shocked.

I'm getting both, DS has a bunch of titles that I want, and PSP has a new kings field and a new armored core, which both kind of force me to get the thing.

Right out the gate the article forgets to build the argument for how the DS will triumph.. lower price they say, yes.. but then the article goes on to hype how the PSP-with its higher price is priced too low! Certainly a compelling argument for why the PSP will lose cash.. But without knowledge of what Nintendo's successful methods have been-and how Sony's differ.... this is hardly convincing.

AS it goes on though, its other arguments are far better constructed. So. Good read.
